Chevy still putting on a brave face about the rest of this season, wonder if he genuinely believes that they can still make the playoffs or if he's just saying it to keep up the morale... sounds he is convinced to me.

Chevy made the statement that we have drafted the third least number of prospects in the last four years because we traded so many picks away, and prospects too. Our depth is very thin now. Missed opportunity to clean house a bit more and load up on picks and prospects. Hope Stastny doesnt walk this offseason.

Chevy’s boss has 13 more home games to sell tickets for. I’m guessing upbeat and we are still in it is the tone the organization is going for.

Seeing in writing, looks like Chevy getting 2 4th-liners, a 3rd-line rhs RW (with known value locally) and a couple more, higher draft picks for, basically Andrew Copp and a future possible player ( Nathan Smith, who might have been a reasonable Bryan Little type player) and no more LTIR guaranteed with BL's " rights/ contract " shipped out.
Roster crunches are going to pile up for a couple years and a middling, semi, almost, hidden rebuild is well underway. Ha, ha, ha. Hoping Zach Sanford can show more than Ves and Harkins and resign cheap, as well big hopes for Morgan Barron to become a "player" for the Jets. Some unheralded or little known offensive talent in this younger big-bodied Maritimer blood/ hearted man! He could become what Chevy hoped Kevin Hayes would have been for this team. Lols. Good luck getting a e shot or more than 4th line WJ minutes! Gotta be sharp and ready for : play for 30 seconds/ sit for 28+ minutes, play for 30 seconds/ sit for 20 minutes, etc...
Way to go " In-Chevy-We-Trust" again. Kinda like trusting a Chevy truck because you drive a ford.

I'd say Chevy meets expectations for the tdl, so I guess a C? C+? I didn't think Copp would get a hard 1st, so getting a conditional based on NYRs success I think fits the bill of what I expected. Would have liked to seen Stastny moved though too. Getting Appleton who produced nicely last year in a bottom 6 was a nice move. Easily better than the wings currently in the bottom 6.

Chevy's got a plan to trade for a 2nd round pick, this May. Oops, the window is closed and not allowed. Oh well, resigned come July for more than Copp's salary. Yeh.

I can’t remember seeing so many trades with salary retention. I wonder if there was discussion about salary retention with Copp for perhaps more…

I feel like this roster could still make the playoffs adding Sanford and Apples, barron could be good too if they give him a shot.
Always hope they can keep winning more than losing and 3 other, maybe 4 central division teams start tanking. 19 games remain? Probably need to win at least 12 of 19 with others losing 13+ of 19.

I would also emphasize:

1) Not being crapness
2) Commitment to D play amongst forward groups, especially in top 6
3) Sane systems, especially on D
4) Competent coaching
5) Competent roster management

I like the Apples add, but another few big-bodied tweeners gets us exactly nowhere, IMO.
More potential penalty kill time, short-handed in-game practise could be a +, no? You know any new Jet with a penchant for laying the body on will get unfair attention from Zebras blowing their whistles every 5 minutes, to be sure they work.

I still think Stastny comes back next season, at another salary reduction. He is still a valuable player that meets a need for us. He seems to like it here and it is close to home.
As much as Stastny and I are on opposite sides of the political spectrum, I think, based upon what he has publicly said, I think that if he thinks he can play another year, I'd welcome him back. The man's got great hockey IQ and would be a great mentor.

Why Stastny wasn’t moved doesn’t make much sense in my eyes. He’s not re-signing here by all accounts. Have to honestly how much 26 was in Chevys ear to keep him with the Jets. Didn’t get the Sanford pickup purely that we have David Gustafsson in the minors ready to go.

Otherwise, good to get apples back and I think while not a first rounder, like the deal they got for Copp if Barron works out. Worried about his foot speed but time will tell.

Pretty dismal TDL imo.

+ Appleton is a plus.
- Smith hurts.
- Losing Copp for a couple 2nd round conditional picks. Ouch.
- Rental Sanford? Why...

Because this team is no longer a Playoff contender, were going to struggle to acquire and keep talent.

I have a feeling this is foreshadowing for what's to come this Summer.

PLD potentially signing is the only glimmer of hope we have.

If PLD's gone, this team is Toast.

Well PLD won’t be gone for nothing no matter what, this summer

Yup, what else is he going to say. While improbable the team still has a shot to go on a run and get in. They will sell this until such a time that they are mathematically eliminated.
