Khabib is a piece of shit I hope he gets deported tomorrow and is never allowed back. You won bro, get over yourself. You cant jump out into the crowd and start attacking someone.

Three of his teammates or whatever they are got arrested already lol

I hate all this ultimate fighting crap, or whatever it's called these days.

The only reason I witnessed tonight is because I was picking up a pick-up order at a bar that ordered the fight, and the spectacle I witnessed was so grotesquely embarrassing I dont know how people take this **** seriously. Having your posse jump into the crowd to beat people down? Seriously? Sorry, but that "sport" is an utter joke.

Is basketball less of a "sport" because of Ron Artest? Or hockey because of the 1973 Bruins? How about baseball due to the Frank Francisco incident? Soccer and Eric Cantona? Forget the NFL, Quinton Jefferson ruined that.

And those are just incidents of athletes attacking FANS in the stands. At least Khabib went after other martial artists employed by Conor who were talking isht after the fight.

I'm in no way defending Khabibs or his teams actions and believe he will and should be suspended, fined, and probably stripped of the belt, but your post - especially on an ice hockey message board - is utter hypocrisy.

It's fine if you don't like MMA, but pointing to last nights events as indicative of the the sport as a whole or as some sort of typical occurence is simply untrue.

You watch ice hockey...

Again, I understand if MMA's not entertaining to you - I don't like soccer or boxing - but there is and always has been fighting in the NHL.
I was never a big fan of fighting in the NHL, but was OK with it if it was a spur of the moment emotional reaction, not a set up thing. I've never had any interested in boxing, MMA, wrestling, etc.

Expect that the big MMA fighters always seem like they are doing dumb **** and act like children half the time. Doesnt give them a good name
That's just what you see because that's - rightly or wrongly - the nature of promotion in the fight business.

And please, the NHL, MLB, etc., salivate over rivalries like Rags/Devils, Detroit/Colorado, Boston/Montreal, Yankees/Red Sox. When real hatred is involved these leagues go out of their way to promote it. How many replays and commercials did we see of a roided up Clemens throwing a bat at Piazza or of Pedro tossing AARP member Zimmer to the ground?

You had an issue with the Devils/Rags line brawl from a few years back? How about if we come out on to the ice and smash Marchand or Hedman the way (or worse) than they did MarJo and Nico? No offence, but I'd find that hard to believe.

I think 70% of that is fake, as it appeals to the element who watches that crap. So while the fights are real, the behind-the-scenes stuff and buildup to the next event is akin to WWE wrestling.

And which sport do you suppose the wwe got that from? I'll take boxing for 400 Alex.

And yes, most of it is fake as the fighters are usually shaking hands or hugging it out afterwards. But who wants to watch fighters being polite to each other beforehand? There's a reason the Tyson's, Mauweather's, and Mcgregor's of the world sell. People either want to see them get their head smashed in or buy into the hype train. Remember, the NHL employed Sean Avery for over a decade and we all tuned in and screamed our heads off when Clarkson ragdolled him and when Kovy jumped him. I'm sorry, but I just don't see a huge distinction.

Oh for christ sake, I hope you have the same feeling towards Connor with all the shit he does. Jumping over the octagon to attack an official in Bellator, throwing a hand truck at a tour bus full of Khabibs camp while injuring other fighters, etc. Give me a break.

Actually, yeah, I didn't really enjoy it. I'm one of the rare fans that don't stand up when a fight goes on. It's just juvenile to me.

I like it in hockey because it’s rare enough to be refreshing. I forget what year the Pens and Flyers played each other in the playoffs when this happened, but there was that one game where it felt like there was some altercation every three minutes, and it got really old.

Although I disagree, I can certainly respect the consistency. Just remember that you're still supporting a sport in which actions like those and much worse have always existed with relatively minimal reprecussions from the league.

Seems like some people change their screen names every month.

How can we see a poster's former screen names?

Agree, it's annoying when people do that as you often dont know who they are so to speak. It's why some forums dont allow handle changes. On the old HFBoards you could hover over their name to see the former name, which was useful, but on this "improved" version you cant.

Not sure if you're referring to me - just guessing since I've posted a fair amount on this page - but I've had this name since 2012. It's a reference to the interview Rico gave after game 6.

Agree and I liked that feature of the old board.
