? I thought it was great how they did the POV of him rushing up to the car, and your first clue about who's going to whack him is the reflection, followed by Steve Buscemi's unmistakable voice. The song works great to add tension, and it seems deliberately chosen because of the lyrics about being 'one foot in the grave/ mother don't you recognize me now' as he taps the window with his fist.

My problem is what happens after that. You should see their reaction or at least Buscemi pulling the gun. Instead it just goes from casual conversation straight to a static shot of him shooting them.

But it's the Sopranos. You know he's going to pull a gun, it's Animal Blundetto after all.

The more I watch the scene, the more I like how quirky it is. He starts off all cool, then clumsily gets his foot run over and it quickly cuts from him falling like a goof to the car crashing. I'll have to watch the DVD but there seems to be a weird motion effect when he gets into the car too.

I'm not too sure about The Wire, but I'd venture to guess that The Sopranos got a major boost in funding as the series went along. They blew up really, really fast. At any rate, what would be looking at? Mad Men/Boardwalk Empire as the first series to have big budgets? That seems way too recent, but maybe?
Rome.

I think the boardwalk number comes from the “most expensive pilot ever made” cause they associate all the cost with creating the set to episode one. Instead of amortizing across every episode like you normally would.

That's actually not true.

“They say this is a great gladiator movie? Look at Kirk Douglas’ hair! THEY DIDN’T HAVE FLAT TOPS IN ANCIENT ROME!”

Joe Pantoliano was amazing while he was there. You really notice once Ralph’s gone.

He was great but man was he ever such a huge piece of shit. "It's my fault she's a clutz?"

I'm currently on season 2 and I wish they kept Ritchie around a little bit more he was another great character.
