I'm not sure what you mean. He absolutely is stepping up. His shot volume is significantly better than it was and the goals have come with it.

First 35 games: 49 shots - avg 1.4 per game 4 goals
Last 25 games: 52 shots - avg 2.1 per game 9 goals
There were mutiple 5 shot games by his linemates in a 4 game stretch where he never had more than 1 shot.
One of those games, the other team’s broadcasters were amazed he resisted the temptation to shoot like everyone else would have and made a pass to Caufield instead who flubbed his shot. He just reverted to full deference mode for those 4 games.

Not sure what you're saying here and it doesn't matter. He's improved signficantly since the start of the season. His shot totals have steadily improved as have the goals. There's really nothing to complain about with him. He's done as well as we could've asked.

I positively think his shot and decision making are still looking subpar and it's a good learning experience that he took 2 horrible penalties 2 games ago smiley face
Lol now was that so hard?

Even as half a joke, your post is now at least critiquing with an open mind
Instead of attacking a prospect one secretly hates with personal jabs

Contrarian? I just wasn’t aware that this was the thread that prohibited any critique. Maybe the thread title could have a warning to make sure you have your safe space.
Yes because of all players on this team and all threads on this forum, this Slafkovsky thread is the one where there's no critique of the player lol

Yeah, contrarian for the sake of it. And when that doesn’t work (since he looks great), we then complain that there’s some type of positive mob mentality

But of course we all had to sit here and read the garbage negativity over and over again because he didn’t put up McDavid numbers. But hey, at least you stick to your convictions unlike some that just change their username and pretend to not exist anymore.

Damn that cold

I’m not a contrarian.

The player is 19 years old. He’s not a finished product. He has things to work on. He played worse in the 4 game stretch than the games before. I think posters don’t believe any different, it just pisses people off that I post something that’s not hagiographic.
Whose gonna tell him?

I truly believe that with his size, protection of puck, hands, offensive IQ, two-way game, passing ability, shot, he is going to have huge impact with Habs.

Huge impact like Draisaitl with Oilers, Barkov with Florida.

Dach and Slaf have unreal offensive potential.

More like, "why are you guys hating on me for? I posted around once every 100 posts about Slaf that I'd be totally happy if I was wrong in a snarky condescending way. Disregard the fact I've either quit the site or whine about toxic positivity now and play the victim."

Hagiographic: very admiring of someone and representing the person as perfect or much better than they really are

Learned a cool word this morning.

Edit - I wonder if parabolic growth gets you to perfection or just infinitely close… hmmmm

To stay in the hyper-positive territory, I much prefer he models his game on Mats Sundin than on Joe Thornton. I’ve seen more Thornton than Sundin lately.

I expect Slaf to truly explode when he's 21-22. I think next year he will up his pts total to 50-55ish pts but the year after (or the one after that) he will truly come into his own and morph into his final beast form for the start of his prime years

I mean as hard as it is to imagine becuase of his size , the guy hasn't eve reached physical maturity yet. And when you think about it.....he's still a minor in the U.S lol

Hope he's all good. It was a bit of a physical game for him. I remember one play in particular where he clipped skates with a Tampa player pretty hard.

I just hope it's not the same knee issue as last year.

I figure you'd be happy to stop reading 'garbage negativity' but seems not. An adult knows where he's not wanted -- between (mod) mean and cruel comments at my person, and certain users taking a personal dislike to anything I said, I figured it best to stop commenting. Then I saw people from here stalking my personal and generally empty twitter account from here too. I don't understand what you people want. A pound of flesh for arguing that a 1OA who isn't producing shouldn't have been rushed? Okay, I stopped posting.

Slaf had a poor game last night but he's heads-and-shoulders better than he was before. There's a lot to enjoy there. Have at it.

Sorry for you ReHabs it takes those way too big proportion. Its passionate debate indeed but in the end we are only sharing our opinion, and the reason why our opinions are free is because in the end, nobody wants them. Maybe some should not take those on such a personal level.

I appreciated every exchange i had with you and i think you are very interesting to read and have a funny, clever way to bring your point to the argument.

Hope for more debate on other subject and hopefully with nothing going into this type of disproportionate response.

Oh please. You make it seem like people are showing up to your work and attacking you. You’re getting outed on a public forum of which you voluntarily participated in. You argued incessantly about this topic and how right you were. Now you rightfully get called out for being wrong and impatient and you’re the victim? Please. You couldn’t even get through your sad sappy post without taking a shot at the player yet again. Cry me a river.

Pretty cool considering how slowly he started points wise. The underlying play was there this year and he just got snakebit. Great to see it come back in bunches. Missed the last game but I understand his leg may be hurt right now. Hopefully nothing serious.

The guy on that list I was surprised about was Lafrenierre. I really thought he was going to be a rock star. For a while I was hoping we could buy cheap on him but I'm glad we didn't.

Besides, Slaf > Laf. :)

Last night he missed the net on a shot he took, but the move he made to get free for the defender and the pass he didn't make showed a lot of poise. Great to see because he hasn't shown that a whole lot.
