The team changes the day Ivan Demidov starts playing. Everyone else gets an immediate stat boost from either playing with him, or playing lesser competition because of him.

Just wait.
Hopefully he can have an impact like Kooch, Kane, Pasta … it would lift Suzuki into the top 10 in production among centers. A first line that’s a problem for opponents.

They’ll have to decide if the complement is CC or Slaf.

Slaf had good physical attributes and a lot of talent. The problem is he didn't use these assets on a consistent basis. We knew that he was more consistent when he played with Suzuki and Caufield. If MSL wanted Slaf to play well, he got to put that line back together.

This game shows you what Slaf can do when motivated

It was a bad draft year though. Jiricek about to be traded. Savoie, Cutter and Geekie have been traded. Wright not doing much. All top 11 picks two drafts ago

2022 being a ‘’bad’’ draft year doesn’t mean the player has to be bad. Him and Cooley are pretty similar in terms of production (different type of player), he’s on par or better now than Carlsson or Fantilli who are similar in age and which people were saying at the time of the 2023 draft that they were better than him. It’s just longer for younger players to dominate now.

I think Habs nailed it in 2022 draft. Slaf and Hutson will dominate in NHL, no doubt.

Beck and Engstrom have great potential aswell!!

A bad year that we made out like bandits in at the moment.

I’m at the point now where I think Hutson’s the best player from that draft. No slight on Slaf, I think he’s going to be awesome as well and I think he’s probably the 2nd best. But Hutson is otherworldly good.

As I’ve said from the beginning though, marathon not a sprint. It will be years before we know. Cooley, Wright and maybe some other players emerge.

For now though? I think we got the two best players from that draft. Beck looks great too.

One of the posters here coined a term the other day "trust your instincts". I feel like this is part of what plagues slaf and dach right now. Slaf looks like a guy who didn't need an offseason to disrupt what he had going, but you see the ups and downs in these young guys, particularly the bigger ones so often, that I'm not phased by it.

I just wish I could fast forward to the end product but that's what it is.

I don't share this point of view at all. Slav will find his way to play with other players, it's a good learning process. Habs won't win the Cup this season anyway, so it's a perfect time for him to learn how to perform with anywho he plays with

It’s killing his confidence big time. Just put him back with Suzuki and Caufield asap.

He will learn to manage his confidence. Suzuki knew how to play with him. Slav now needs to learn how to adapt his game and bring the best out of the line mates he gets, to lead them instead of depend on them.

Dach is the Achilles heel of that line. Keep Laine and Slaf together but they need a center that can play. Dach is a mess

I would still give them a few more games to see if things get fixed. They did improve in the dzone over the last 3 games, maybe neutral/ozone can be improved via a few more video reviews too.

Won't help Dach with his faceoffs, but should help with the rest.
