I would still give them a few more games to see if things get fixed. They did improve in the dzone over the last 3 games, maybe neutral/ozone can be improved via a few more video reviews too.

Won't help Dach with his faceoffs, but should help with the rest.
Dach belongs nowhere near the top 6. Worst plus minus in the league, he is clearly out of shape, he is way too slow currently. Put him on the 4th line and let him work his way back up. His ineffectiveness is hurting players like Slaf.
Something has to be done.

The answer would probably be Beck, but I want him to continue progressing in the AHL. There's no rush. Dach will have a better summer, Demidov is coming over, Hage is coming eventually and Beck will have another year. It's better to just wait it out and let them figure it out.

keeping it vague enough that it could be either camp, a really well crafted meaningless post
IF you don't know which side im on with that comment after reading the last 5 page in this thread, you're probably not the brightness bulb of the pack.

Slaf will be fine. He's in a cold stretch. No need to bring Cooley or Wright when both are on a hot stretch. Habs didn't make a mistake by taking him over them like some bipolar fans have said. We will re-visit in 2/3 years and everyone will be fine with the pick

If Dach doesn't regain a semblance of his former self it could ruin him. He needs off the top 6 for his own good.

The bottom 6 lines takes the majority of the dzone faceoffs. Dach isn't on them because he sucks at faceoffs and isn't the greatest in his own zone. If you are to play Dach mostly in the ozone, you might as well put offensive wingers with him to generate something.

And Dach is slow because he is trying to slow down the game when he shouldn't and has positioning/decision making issues. That can be coached. By the way, based on NHL edge, Dach is one of the fastest skater on the team, his problems are not physical.

Be no Newhook here
Doesn’t matter. You’d have spent a high pick on a smaller player. Then we’d have debates in whether we should take Demidov. Demidov, CC, Cooley, Suzuki… not much size at all.

Long term I think Slaf was the right pick. We’ll see though. It’s so early and these guys are so young.

Kind of does matter because we gave up 2 first for Newhook and he is a negative to team.

I'm fairly confident that with hindsight, Slafkovsky will be seen as a great pick, even if he isn't seen as the right pick. He'll be a difference maker for us. He's so young

In another timeline we do. He has 30% less pts and Slaf is close to 1ppg on the NJD.

I thought he played really well last night. Made some nice plays/passes. Even on Laine's goal, he went for the shot which is good to see. I feel like he's deferring waaaaay too much this season and we already have enough of those guys.

With Laine back, it could re-energize him for the second half.

Slaf can work out well with Laine, because he naturally prefers to be a playmaker. The point is why do they have to carry Dach. Just give them Evans who can cover defensively and they will create offense. Move Dach to 4C, so he can slowly build up his game without any significant pressure.

The points production is fine but the big guy doesnt skate. He watch and let him self glide on the ice. I hope he will figure it out and become faster to process the play. He has a big body but he play a very soft game. He could be a force on the ice but he act as a spectator.
