Post-Game Talk: The Sieve We Know

McDavid and Draisatl on for 5 min straight was a mistake, they should have sat after the tying goal. Blame Skinner all you want both goalies had the same save percentage. Was snowed and screened by Fogael on the last flukey one.
Also an awful coaching decision to dress Josh brown over Dineen and play him less than 5 minutes. Knobloch has a lot to look in the mirror for this game.

Skinner was never going to let us win this game
Skinner fans will undoubtedly say “well maybe the team shouldn’t decide to play until the last period”, and while I agree with that it would be nice if we had a goalie that wouldn’t continue to spot the other team 3-4 goals before we found our legs. And this isn’t even a once a while thing with Skinner but it’s a continual theme with him. Put us down for the count, only to cue the miraculous comeback, and then once again lose it for them. I mean, we all knew what was going to happen after the Oilers tied it. It’s what always happens. You just know Skinner is letting in that next goal.

There’s a reason this guy only had a couple more wins than the back up. He’s a .500 winning goalie this year and if we didn’t have Pickard wouldn’t even be playing in the playoffs.

There was just no way the team was going to play well with all those injuries and strange new line combos. Gotta appreciate that effort in the 3rd.

I'm sure that even though they Kings were extremely releaved to just barely win, they are probably not feeling like they are on stable ground after that surge of offense we summoned when they thought the game was over. Too bad Sewer Stinker did his thing, preventing us from giving the Kings a demoralizing blow early in the series.

Start Pickard next game and I think we will be ok now that the boys have found their legs. Start Stinker again and we are probably going down by 2 games. I was patient with him the last couple years but it's time for our coaching staff to face the music and realize we will never win a cup with him as an NHL starter.

Difference with Pickard is he battles like crazy.
What does this even mean? It's a nonsense phrase that broadcasters started using to describe goalies with tempers, like Mike Smith.

Fans have swallowed up this nothing-burger as if it's a thing. I don't give a rat's ass if the Oilers' goalie looks like he's "battling" or not. I care if he stops the puck.

I swear, it's only because Mike Smith looked like a "battler" that many Oilers fans think he was good. (He was not.)

Smith is the best goalie we have had in 19 years

Okay, I finally saw the highlights of this game. Good Lord...

The goals against Skinner actually weren't all that bad. (And no, I'm not saying Skinner should see another game. He should not have played this game in the first place.)

But my God, what is Bouchard doing out there? He gives a new meaning to the phrase "high-event player". The dude made about three of the most egregious giveaways I've ever seen in the playoffs... and yet somehow he had 3 points and went +1.

Sometimes it's like he plays in some alternate universe. Bouch giveth, and Bouch taketh away...

You mean this guy?:

In this game, only Nuge (of all people!) scoring late in the third saved Smith from this being maybe the 2nd-worst blunder in Oiler playoff history.

Still not as bad as last night

Career .924 in playoffs, 30 points better then not my fault
