That scout should be fired immediately.
That was post WJC.
McKenzie polled the same scouts right before the draft lottery, Kakko was a unanimous #2 and closing the gap.
That scout should be fired immediately.
No way the Devils are picking Kakko, so congrats on getting the best player of the draft and the next Peter Forsberg.
I followed Peter from the age of 15-16 when he was playing TV-pucken here in Sweden and I’ve never seen a player remind me so much of Peter. He might even be more talented than Peter at this age.

Is it bad that I want Kakko over Hughes?
Ray Shero’s son
That video is Kakko

The loudest pro-Hughes arguments I hear are that Kakko has star potential but not perennial Art Ross+Hart trophy potential.
That Kakko has a 30-40-70 type scoreline while Hughes has the skills to be a 100 point guy.
I feel like he would be the face of the culture we want to be going forward.Nope, I kind of do too. I love his game.
and thats why there is near 0 chance that nj doesn't take hughes
99% Hughes to the Devils. Nothing that has happened in this WC or that may happen will change that. These guys have been scouted for a couple years; opinions and rankings have been formed and are pretty much set in stone. What happens in essentially an exhibition tournament when everyone's season is over doesn't change the past two years of player evaluation. The only way it would is if the two were considered literally even by the Devils coming in, and I guarantee they weren't.
Hughes has been the #1 pick in the 2019 draft for a few years now. Nothing has happened to change that. I don't know why everyone feels the needs to keep bringing it up, and speculating that "Kakko might be the Debbie's pick!" or whatever.

I know one thing for sure, and that is that if you are NJD you only stand to lose from letting anyone know that you might not pick Hughes. If another decision comes, it will become known when its 200% final.
Like what would they gain from going public letting everyone know how extremely hard of a decision they have to make, they risk taking the wrong guy and seeing the best option go to their worst rival? Etc etc etc.
Keep a clean fasad up, pick your guy like its the most obvious choice in the world.

Yea, I think this tournament and shown those people (who likely never saw Kakko once in their life) that his potential is much higher than a 70 point playerThe loudest pro-Hughes arguments I hear are that Kakko has star potential but not perennial Art Ross+Hart trophy potential.

I am pretty sure Hynes and Shero are unanimous on Hughes as well.99% Hughes to the Devils. Nothing that has happened in this WC or that may happen will change that. I would take the second one, goals > assists.Personally, I think it might be more of a 30 goal/100 point vs. 40 goal/95 point debate if all goes well.
