No way the Devils are picking Kakko, so congrats on getting the best player of the draft and the next Peter Forsberg.

I followed Peter from the age of 15-16 when he was playing TV-pucken here in Sweden and I’ve never seen a player remind me so much of Peter. He might even be more talented than Peter at this age.

There are stylistic similarities, it's the comparison I like best as most of the other ones are pretty lazy and/or inaccurate.

He doesn't play with the ferocity that Foppa did, though that may serve him well in the long run.

people seriously need to stop acting like if we got hughes it would be some horrible outcome. its beyond laughable. we spent the entire year bitching about loser points because every point potentially hurt our odds to win the lottery and a shot at JACK HUGHES...#loses4hughes all year and then you see kakko for 4 games and suddenly getting hughes would be bad?

don't get me wrong. kakko looks amazing and if you prefer him thats fine. but lets not act like hughes wouldn't be the best forward we've ever drafted as well.

Ray Shero’s son
That video is Kakko

The loudest pro-Hughes arguments I hear are that Kakko has star potential but not perennial Art Ross+Hart trophy potential.

That Kakko has a 30-40-70 type scoreline while Hughes has the skills to be a 100 point guy.

and thats why there is near 0 chance that nj doesn't take hughes

Hughes is the pick for the Devils. He's a marketing dream and even if Kaako has a better career no one could fault the scouts for going with the guy who was pretty much the consensus #1 since 14.

99% Hughes to the Devils. Nothing that has happened in this WC or that may happen will change that. These guys have been scouted for a couple years; opinions and rankings have been formed and are pretty much set in stone. What happens in essentially an exhibition tournament when everyone's season is over doesn't change the past two years of player evaluation. The only way it would is if the two were considered literally even by the Devils coming in, and I guarantee they weren't.

Hughes has been the #1 pick in the 2019 draft for a few years now. Nothing has happened to change that. I don't know why everyone feels the needs to keep bringing it up, and speculating that "Kakko might be the Debbie's pick!" or whatever.

Because it's boring not to create drama when none exists.

It is a step up from the “we’re going off the board!!!!” Shit that was being posted 3 weeks ago.

I know one thing for sure, and that is that if you are NJD you only stand to lose from letting anyone know that you might not pick Hughes. If another decision comes, it will become known when its 200% final.

Like what would they gain from going public letting everyone know how extremely hard of a decision they have to make, they risk taking the wrong guy and seeing the best option go to their worst rival? Etc etc etc.

Keep a clean fasad up, pick your guy like its the most obvious choice in the world.

And in the same vein, the Rangers are in a great spot. If NJ goes with the conventional opinion, the Rangers get the amazing player everyone on here is drooling over. If the Devils go against that tide, the Rangers get Hughes.

In a draft where two guys are seen as having the highest franchise player potential for the next 15 years, the Rangers are guaranteed that one will be on the board. We arguably have the easiest selection in the draft.

Yea, I think this tournament and shown those people (who likely never saw Kakko once in their life) that his potential is much higher than a 70 point player  Unless of course they were talking about his rookie year ;)

I am pretty sure Hynes and Shero are unanimous on Hughes as well.
