And the Devils were the worst record in the league after Hall went down with a goal differential of over -50

Context matters

The lie detecter determined that this is a lie.

Not a ton of good touches yet for Kakko. team has struggled to possess the puck effectively so far

Good thing we don't have to worry about it because if he is the #1 overall pick, that means he will be a Devil and not a member of the NYR.
That means nothing

Kaapo at #2 is basically 1st overall for the Rangers lmao. Youre seriously acting like Kaapo can do poorly but Jack cant because of one draft spot?

What nonsense

Not sure why this is so far fetched. More people actually prefer Kakko to Hughes on the main board if you check the polls who are not Ranger/Devils fans. People have different opinions, they aren’t “comical” because their opinions aren't the same as yours and that’s a really condescending thing to say.

Yikes, when trying to make an argument, using the main board's opinion is maybe not the way to go.

What I find interesting is that this board has been bombarded for the last several years with posts on how the Rangers always have to be the smartest in the room. Never go with the "consensus". They reached on Andersson, they reached on Kratsov, etc etc.

Now the facts are if there is a "consensus" from the pro drafting services it's been Hughes 1, Kakko 2 for the past two years. As recently as like a month ago, Bob McKenzie updated his list from 10 nhl scouts and all picked Hughes no 1 overall Kakko. A fast look at the various latest lists still have Hughes 1, Kakko 2.

But now the "consensus" is wrong this time. It's biased. Wonder why a lot of Rangers' fans feel that way?

Note: make no bones about it, I love Kakko and Hughes and would be happy with either as a huge piece to the Rangers puzzle. I am also resigned to the fact that one is going to the Devils but as we've seen with these great players, they can't make a team by themselves. That's why I refuse to look at either as the savor of the Rangers franchise.

Yikes, using unbiased opinions on the main board(certainly compared to the devs/rangers boards).

So go on pro drafting services, like they nailed Yakapov right? Because they are never wrong?

Yeah my 3 year old nephew is unbiased about politics but I wouldn't trust his opinion on whether the President is doing a good job.

Scouts get it wrong all the time. No doubt and I'm not saying they wont get it wrong this time. Btw, posters on this board get it wrong all the time too but it's rarely remembered as they spout the next hot take. Sorry you missed my point which is I'm seeing some hypocrisy and wishcasting in this thread since the Rangers landed the 2nd overall pick and not the first.

In the end it doesn't matter. We'll get one of them and if the Rangers fail to surround either with a great supporting cast, neither would get their name on the cup.

I’m most impressed by today’s game from Kakko. Even though he had no points, what he is showing is that he is a consistent player on one of the biggest stages of hockey.

He’s a gamer. He competes every shift. He doesn’t seem to be satisfied with the way he’s played and the 6 goals he’s scored. He’s out to prove something every shift and it’s in a workmanlike manner that is very professional and usually comes with time.

That says a lot about a player who’s only 18. Wish the draft was tomorrow
