Its not 0.0%, it has happened before that a GM have called the wrong name.

But I wonder what the odds really are for a GM accidently passes on a player by calling the wrong name. It must be less likely with an unusual name like Kaapo Kakko. But if the draft was held one million billion times, someone would step up to the podium and draft Huge Jackson. It has happened before (that the wrong name has been called). Stuff can happen, like you can be shaken up after being harassed by some crazy dutch dude in the stands before making that pick, and just as you are about to call out a name you see him again pointing at you with some laser pen or stuff like that, and all of a sudden you hear yourself say some odd name.

Nonsense. Ippenator on the prospect board said that kakko has bad IQ and he was right about something that one time. Well...kudos to that guy for not being dumb enough to bring his crap here. I thought we'd be infested with the terrible, overzealous finn fans from the mains by now too. They're like the one army in game of thrones. Massive, loud, brutal and they leave you shaking your head in disappointment and frustration
Way to generalise Finnish hockey fan base, mate! :thumbu: Personally I can think of maybe 5 to 7 idiots from that group, who try gain something by bashing Hughes thinking that it would somehow look good for Kakko, but rest of them seem to be more level headed and pleasant forum users who are genuinely excited by the best prospect coming from that country since Barkov.

I should be more specific so that it doesnt look like I'm generalizing. It is around 5-7 that I've noticed

I keep asking what top6 forward to bring on a short term deal to replace Kreider if Panarin or other big name long term UFA is not an option and I don’t get responses that would get me to say “yay”. I just thought of a one - would be happy to bring back Eric Staal if he takes two years to finish out with Marc.

Edit: per below - not an option. Ignore.

Eric signed an extension with Minnesota.

I doubt E. Staal is a consideration for either side.

We don't need a great player to play in the top 6, we just need a body that can play there short term and insulate the kids. What kind of contract is Eberle looking at? What about Vanek or Pominville? If we could sign Eberle to a 2 year deal and rebuild his value, that would be great.

Eberle is the only name on this list that fits MY criteria but I doubt he’d be ok with two years. I’d even go 3 because of how ELC structure for our prospects is shaping up.

Vanek, Pomi, Spezza are all has-beens terms of top6 and won’t isolate or be helpful in development of our prospects.

The Rangers haven’t acquired/drafted their own homegrown star forward since like Jean Ratelle. They’re taking whichever of Hughes or Kakko is still available at 2OA, and it’s just really not up for debate.

Best player on team Finland.

The offense should go through him, just scary good.

Annoying how often he makes a good play for a give and go, but the player receiving his pass doesn't give it back and just does something stupid instead and loses the puck. Will be fun watching him in NHL.
