If Kakko was a center, would it be a toss up with Hughes?
Well considering that it's this close of a debate with out him being one, I'd say so.

Yes and no.
You can get him for free next year, but I do think there is some value in getting an extra year of him on an ELC.
How much more valuable is Kreider than the #17-19 pick? I think it's a fair return.

Is it this close of a debate or is that Rangers bias?

Fox aside I don't think Kreider alone gets them any 17-19 pick
The stuff the Rangers have received back for players with a year term, who had two playoffs left probably does not even equate to to a 17-19 pick. The players who they sold who had one playoffs left without conditions, they all returned less than that and if those conditions do not come through those too will have returned less than that.
The only trade so far that returned more than that is Brassard, Zbad, Brassard had more term left, Zbad a pending RFA, Brassard real money left reduced by them waiting until after his bonus was paid out.
Everyone probably thinks I'm crazy for suggesting adding to Kreider to try to move up to top 10 pick, partly why I'd do so is because I don't see late 1st and Howden/Hajek level prospects moving the needle much as this whole rebuild progresses, and the Rangers already have that in their system.
Stepan returned a 7OA....
The McDonagh deal also returned more than the value of a 17-19 OA pick.
Hell, a rental Hayes may return an 18 OA.
I’ve mentioned this before but wouldn’t it be something to see Colorado sign Hayes and trade for Kreider? With Hayes there perhaps Kreider re-signs. Colorado immediately builds a true second line in one offseason. They have the cap space.
That would make a ton of sense for them.
Kaapo Kakko is proving he's the real deal for the 2019 draft - TheHockeyNews
Rantanen showed what a great player he is with his performance in the Calgary series.
The Rangers would be ecstatic with Kakko performing like Rantanen.
That may be the worst comparison ever made in the history of earth.
1 (2) - Kaapo Kakko
1 (Jets pick) - Arthur Kaliyev or Nathan Legare
1 (Stars pick) - Mo Seider
BELIEVE IT AND IT WILL HAPPEN.
Kakko, Kaliyev and Seider would be phenomenal.
What’s this Anglophone obsession with shortening about every name, especially the ones that don’t sound English?
Not in a million years I would have thought about referring to someone named Moritz as ‘Mo’. Funny stuff.
