Imagine with this team can look like in June 2020 after the draft. Its really hard not to get ahead of myself.

The whole concept of Kakko is surreal. Like a lot of things with this current team, there’s not a good comparable.

Being in a position to take a Kakko is something we talk about hypothetically. It’s never been a reality before. That’s crazy.

People really need to understand that what the current GM is undertaking has never been done before to this extent. Let's say that Dallas doesn't get to the conference finals, but TB does win the Cup, and yes, Kreider gets moved for AZ's 1st +. Then Zuccarello does re-sign in Dallas. That's 11 1sts in four years. That in itself is a helluva way to speed up your rebuild...as long as you get it right.

How highly is Kakko regarded relative to Svechnikov and Laine in their draft years?

Didn't Gorton have Svechnikov as the top forward last year with Kratsov after him at 2 or 3? Its not like Gorton has absurd rankings. He had Petterson #1. He wanted Keller. Its blown out of proportion when all Gorton is guilty of is taking Anderson over Mittlestadt and Kratsov over Wahlstrom. You will shave years off your life if you overthink this.

Gorton and co have done an excellent job. So far so good LGR!

Saw on The Athletic that Shero was Jim Hughes’ advisor when he played at Providence.

Jim Hughes was one of my hockey camp coaches at Providence when I was a kid. Peter Taglianetti, Tim Army and Chris Terreri too !

Shero has connections with the Hughes family, and is very high on the USNTP kids.

Trying to imagine the Devils giving the Rangers the #1 ranked prospect in a draft...yeah seems likely.

Im really hoping for this scenario. I really like next years draft, I like what Gorton has done and the process, and I really like the luck on our side it was well needed. Next year your looking at a ridiculous top 10, haven't really spent time on how deep it is but in time. I think once the horrid contracts come off the books its go to war time.

Gosh, I suck at trade proposals.

I don’t think Kreider is a fit for any teams in that range, so I don’t see that happening.

Maybe if he was traded for a pick in the early teens, and the Winnipeg pick ended up being 19.
