I can’t believe we can grab Hughes or Kakko. Only fear is reaching for a goalie prospect with this pick if we don’t want to wait for round 2...

Didn't Gorton have Svechnikov as the top forward last year with Kratsov after him at 2 or 3? Its not like Gorton has absurd rankings. He had Petterson #1. He wanted Keller. Its blown out of proportion when all Gorton is guilty of is taking Anderson over Mittlestadt and Kratsov over Wahlstrom. You will shave years off your life if you overthink this.

You're being sensible. That does nothing for people programmed to fear the worst, like the Rangers dropping three spots in tonight's draft lottery.

To be fair to Gorton, he probably saw him struggle (read: "fail") doing one lousy pull up.

And while I'm being semi-serious here as a coach I'd have my reservations over an athlete who is reliant on core and general body strength and is incapable of doing one freaking pull up.

My coach would have send me to the dungeon until I can do at least 10.
Wouldn't make me a better player but hot damn that's just something I've never heard of or seen.

I'm close to 40 and while I'm not in the worst shape of my life, I'm certainly the heaviest I've been and even I can give you 1 if you asked me now right here, with my underpants sitting on my cold leather office chair.

Was somewhere I couldnt check my phone until after 9. Only thing that comes up is the Devils won the lottery, and was sick to my stomach. had to wait 15 minutes to check and see where we ended up, and was stunned. As a long time Ranger fan this just doesnt seem real. Especially in a draft with what seems like two possible stars in it.

I know this sounds stupid, but there really is part of me that is going to miss discussions and the possibility of Cozens, Turcotte, Zegras or Byram.

Not that I would trade places, but those were the names we spent so much time with. There’s an attachment there.

Not stupid at all, we did some good digging and came to some agreements, huge win for this place.

Names will come up down the road, we may be acquiring some of these others guys in trades or free agency.

You can make the argument he will be the most hyped and well regarded player the Rangers have ever drafted - period.

That’s not a comparison to the careers of all time greats, it’s looking at how players were viewed at the time of their drafting.

The hype for Brendl was something serious. I’d probably rate him as the most hyped pick we’ve ever had.

Kakko has been thriving at center since December as that article states and no one really talks about it.

lets look at the devils

they have hischier and hall and zacha and palmeri.

they could use a true 1C then niko is your 2C and thats a pretty dank top 2

kakko is a stud but i still think they take hughes 1.

we cant lose with hughes or kakko. were good.

if the devs take kakko, thats fine.

jack hughes as the consolation prize works too. :thumbu:

I think Kakko blows him out of the water and then shots him in mid-air for good measure.

Brendl was talented, but there were a lot of question marks there as well. He was in that top end mix, but not necessarily clear cut.

Maybe 1 percent of scouts and observers doesn’t have Kakko in the top 2.

Wait... wut?

I wish I would make this up.

I will always remember him as "No-Pull-Up" Casey

LOOK: Top NHL prospect Casey Mittelstadt can't do a single pull-up

Yeah it just had that feeling.

This franchise has gone through too much bull **** (most of it self inflicted) not to have something go right for once.

This is huge though. Potentially franchise altering and after next year, we should be ready to roll.

I keep saying Grots just needs to be patient here. Just one more down year, and this thing could skyrocket in a hurry. Stay away from the lure of immediate satisfaction by pursuing Panarin. The defense is nowhere near being ready to "go for it". You've got one more year of potential multiple picks in the 1st round. There's an awful lot of high end talent still there to be added.

Where do you think we will be ranked prospect wise after this draft?

Will we have the best farm system in the NHL?
