Over 150 votes are in favor of Kakko, only 62 for Hughes. The fan base doesn’t have Hughes as a resounding #2, most of us think Hughes is better
Wow, poll favors the player they’re most likely to get, shockingOver 150 votes are in favor of Kakko, only 62 for Hughes.

To answer your question sir, this was on the last page of the closed thread...Who said that?
Hughes has a laser beam wrist shot???? Since when this morning?
I understand the question, most people aren’t going to say they’d rather get the guy they’re not going to get literately just hours after they find out they’re going to get the other guy. When the question is, “Whom would you rather get. Not whom do you think the Rangers get.
And yet everyone now thinks Kakko is superior. Everyone would rather him? Okay.![]()
Admittedly, I have not. I’m just utterly grateful that the Rangers are picking number 2. I’ll gladly take Hughes or Kakko.I understand the question, most going to say they’d rather get the guy they’re not going to get literately just hours after they find out they’re going to get the guy.
If you’ve been keeping up with these threads, you’d see that like 90% of the people are saying Hughes is most likely going to be the better player long term, but Kakko will probably make an impact quicker
And yet everyone now thinks Kakko is superior. Everyone would rather him? Okay.![]()
That’s pretty much everyone’s feeling, even outside Rangers fans the feeling is that #2 is the easiest pick in the draft because the Rangers won’t have to make the choiceAdmittedly, I have not. I’m just utterly grateful that the Rangers are picking number 2. I’ll gladly take Hughes or Kakko.
Dont know why you say that, I've never seen his shot accuracy questioned in various scouting reports.
Replacement level player when he's not scoring goals.I gotta be honest...I hate Laine. I've hated him for a long time. Except for his shot I'm not even sure I'd even consider him a 3rd liner. I basically never notice him if he's not rifling shots top corner.
Yes he has a once in a generation type of a shot ...yes scoring goals is hugely important...but I still hate Laine. ... Most overrated player in the NHL today.
Replacement level player when he's not scoring goals.
Ryan Spooner on crack.
You're not wrong, but I wouldn't even spit in Laine's direction at the salary he's going to get.Yeah but its like the best crack ever.
Posting a highlight of him doing EXACTLY WHAT MANY OF US HAVE SAID (using his hands to get in tight) does not make your point for you.

Like @Inferno said, he's treated like a generational talent, and will be paid like one.

I disagree; THIS is an other-worldly hands goal, not the one I posted, which came from 12 or 15 feet out.
i hate how this one highlight is something that keeps getting posted. a highlight of a play that will probably never happen again.
Rangers coach David Quinn excited for the opportunity to add...
Quinn said he knows for a fact that some teams rate Kakko above Hughes — though Quinn absolutely is not saying the Rangers will take either, only because it makes zero sense for any NHL GM or employee to make such an admission before the walk up to the stage at the draft June 21 in Vancouver. You hide your cards, even when it’s obvious what you’re holding.
it's noticeably worse than McDavid's shot was pre-draft, which was a 3/5 for Button, I believe.
Hughes remains the best player available this year, combining elite offensive skill and imagination with his will to compete every time he comes over the boards. He’s been slowed by a couple of minor injuries this season, but still has put up monster numbers (35 goals, 89 assists in 61 games). That sustained excellence keeps him ahead of TPS Turku right wing Kaapo Kakko (No. 2) and Russian right wing Vasili Podkolzin (No. 3).
Quinn is our coachQuinn is in a great position as GM here 'cause it's going to be an absolute no-brainer as to who to select once the Devils make their selection.
I prefer Kakko as a player and would have argued in his favor prior to the lottery results. When the question is, “Whom would you rather get. Not whom do you think the Rangers get.

The idea of Kakko being better than Hughes was a thing long before the lottery. It's not as far fetched as you might think it is.When the question is, “Whom would you rather get. Not whom do you think the Rangers get.
