Rafferty was flying tonight, occasionally too risky but as is so often the case the net result is positive. During the summer I watched one of his university games from last season and the first thing that I noticed was that he was definitely a puck watcher. Good at it and anticipates a lot of plays but got caught occasionally looking at the puck in his own zone when he should've been paying more attention to his man. Same issue this season in the AHL; a little more attention to his guy is needed inside his own blue line. When all is said and done, 20 points and +11 in 25 games so at the least he is a quality AHLer. Has to clean up those defensive details and reduce overhandling of the puck to stick in the NHL.
Thought Juolevi was better than his box score line of -2 and 0 points. Did some good things out there, especially on the PK. To play in the NHL he needs to skate better and be more physical.
Lind needs to find two more skating gears to stick in the NHL and probability suggests that at age 21 there is only one more gear forthcoming from physiological improvement, but if he does find that second extra gear then he'll likely be able to stick around as a regular. If not, then will make plays in the AHL like Boucher scores goals and get called up occasionally. 20 points in 25 games this season compared to 17 in 51 last season.
Gadjovich is fairly good within about 12 feet of the opposition's goal crease thanks to strength, a decent pair of hands and an ability to work into the open passing lane. A lot of improvement is still needed in many other aspects.
