Now Olli is tripped and it's 4 on 4 for about 30 seconds and then the Comets get another PP. Rafferty is just mind numbing at how he reads play in his own zone. Usually trailing coming back in and instead of speeding up to pick up the second guy he glides to see what happens and thinks he can go hard and get to that guy if the puck comes to him. He can't. He is more interested in turning to go the other way rather than doing his defensive game.

Just as I'm about to post that he does what he wants to do and gets up ice with the puck and scores a 4 on 4 goal.

The Comets are doing exactly what they did in their 8-game streak. Outscoring the opponent with fancy goal scoring and ignoring the goals by the opponent and relying on their keeper to save their bacon due to weak defense.

It's not surprising since they have the same lineup back minus Gaudette. Some may ask what about Graovac? He only played the first game of the streak. Was injured that game and didn't play again in the streak.

This one will end up in the win column for the Comets.

Gadjovich is playing so I would guess the Concussion someone worried about earlier, wasn't.

Might be that the Comets are better if they can lessen the amount of 5 on 5 play.

Rafferty appeared to have big cheering section for this game and looked to be playing inspired hockey. Note that he does not want to give up puck possession too easily. Sometimes leads to over handling and giving up chances against. But you like the attitude and it is a way of developing your game.

Best I've seen Jasek - again better if you keep him from too much 5 on 5 situations.

Both Baertschi and Boucher showed off some good skill in this game and Lind was skating better. Lind has good stick but still needs to get quicker. But better here (maybe consider opponents)

Joulevi had some better periods of play but still seems mostly an open invitation to opponents to get some good scoring chances. Way too much stick checking. Partner Sautner had IMO a poor game. Doubt he is your first call up ATM

Team needs more out of Camper and Perron

Teves seems no longer in the picture as prospect.

Rafferty was flying tonight, occasionally too risky but as is so often the case the net result is positive. During the summer I watched one of his university games from last season and the first thing that I noticed was that he was definitely a puck watcher. Good at it and anticipates a lot of plays but got caught occasionally looking at the puck in his own zone when he should've been paying more attention to his man. Same issue this season in the AHL; a little more attention to his guy is needed inside his own blue line. When all is said and done, 20 points and +11 in 25 games so at the least he is a quality AHLer. Has to clean up those defensive details and reduce overhandling of the puck to stick in the NHL.

Thought Juolevi was better than his box score line of -2 and 0 points. Did some good things out there, especially on the PK. To play in the NHL he needs to skate better and be more physical.

Lind needs to find two more skating gears to stick in the NHL and probability suggests that at age 21 there is only one more gear forthcoming from physiological improvement, but if he does find that second extra gear then he'll likely be able to stick around as a regular. If not, then will make plays in the AHL like Boucher scores goals and get called up occasionally. 20 points in 25 games this season compared to 17 in 51 last season.

Gadjovich is fairly good within about 12 feet of the opposition's goal crease thanks to strength, a decent pair of hands and an ability to work into the open passing lane. A lot of improvement is still needed in many other aspects.
