Absolutely... like Dale Tallon (GM Blackhawks 2005-2009, fired for Bowman after building that team).unfortunately for Grier he coudl be fired befire the results show, even if he does a fantastic job, because these changes take long to show.
...
Theyll have to find a way to get sime stronger vets though, bc as we've seen in buffalo and edmonton, teams without a leadership group tend to take much longer to rebuild.
It all comes down to the draft/development. Go through their draft history, theres a handful of good players since the last 15+ years. Its absymal and it shows on the roster.
Since 2006, the impact players are limited to
Couture
Hertl
Meier
Coyle
Norris
Ferrarro
Norris/Coyle didnt even play a game for the Sharks, so you're down to 4 players over nearly 20 years.
They didnt get anything for Karlsson either. Meier? Jury is still out, but if the Sharks havent f8xed their drafting/development pipeline, its gonna be a weak return too.
Yeah I see a couple “decent” names there like Granlund, Duclair, Lebanc, Ferrero but they’re all playing a line/pair or two above where they should be and the results are expected.Huh?
This roster has a single bonafide top line player, Hertl, and some people would argue if that is even true at this point. Duclair you might be able to argue is a another, but realistically he's more of a 2nd line player, and so far is not even playing like one for us.
On paper our defense is the worst iced that I can ever remember since watching hockey. Literally not a single player that would be on anything higher than the 3rd pairing on any other team, and several that probably should not even be in the NHL at all.
Who are the other decent players? Even if you name a couple more decent players, like maybe Eklund and Granlund or something, none of them of bonafide top six players at this point, and are unfortunately being counted on to be that at this time.
Not really sure how you look at our roster and say "yeah that should be competitive" with anyone besides the bottom 3-5 or so teams in the league.
The goaltending has been the bright spot.Yeah I see a couple “decent” names there like Granlund, Duclair, Lebanc, Ferrero but they’re all playing a line/pair or two above where they should be and the results are expected.
Add in some bad goaltending and yikes
You left out several players. There are some nice later round finds here. These players either contributed to the last playoff years or were assets in trades.
And it’s not like the players you did list were easy, early top picks.
Hitting on some early picks, and bolstering it with depth from later in the draft, meant they were pretty successful in the draft these years.
The team got old and lost UFAs and assets.
(We’ll see how the more recent stuff shakes out in the future.)

I think that’s unfair when you consider a: they did trade away a fair amount of picks for established guys and b: there was never really a ton of openings because of those guys. For example, for a while there was never a need to develop defencemen considering they had Vlasic, BrAun, Dillon, Burns for so long. There’s your top 4 and you’re basically filling out the last spots with traded guys like Polak or Paul Martin or the aforementioned Demelo.Coyle - Couture - Meier
Nieto - Hertl - Labanc
Wingel - Norris - kuraly
McGinn - Tierney - Bonino
Ferraro - demelo
- demers
- Braun
Thats the result over 17 years? They definitely hit good on centers...wings and D is pretty underwhelming.

We had Mirco Mueller and Joakim Ryan.I meam fair enough but none of their prospects really pushed for those spots either. Its not like there weren't any openings im the last 5 years. Heck even a Brandon Dillon at his peak could have been expendable for an up and coming talented prospect
Don't have the cap space. We'd need to trade for him, and we only do that if we're paid handsomely to do so.Sharks should pickup Campbell and be better than the Oil at least
It contains potassium benzoate.Rather bad.
But they came with a free frogurt.

waka waka waka
Fat lot of good it's doing us now, I'd rather have a frozen yogurt, lolId argue it preserved them for quite a while
Marleau beat the gp record
Burns is 38 amd had a 61 pts season last year
Pavelski is 39 and ppg
Quire impressive
The Sharks traded away a ton of high picks when they were cup contenders, so the implication they drafted badly/missed on a lot of other picks is disingenuous.Coyle - Couture - Meier
