So are you implying that he's a lazy guy with motivation problems? As captain?

Well, he stepped up when it was needed and his team advanced to the semifinals. He has done all that has been needed from this far, except that first game against Canada, which was very dissapointing for the whole finnish team.

So, all in all, he has already done everything that was excepted from him in this tourny. Lead his team to semifinals and leads the scoring race.

I`d rather say that he thought it was clever not to play at full speed against Slovakia, knowing they play Quaterfinals against a talented Team Sweden in 24h...

Like people have said, he got off to a slow start like the whole Finnish team. People still have said he hasn't done well and leads the tournament in scoring and literally took over the last game. The team and him are only getting better. Also, interesting to note that Kuznetsov has no points in 13 of 15 periods, and only points vs Latvia. Granlund has been a factor in every game, even against Canada there line did a lot of good things.

he has done well, but still not on his level were used to see here in FEL. his overall game has been ok but slovakia game was first time he sniped that sick wrister, like he didn't want to score before that.. or something - weird. hope we see more sniping from him tonight.

:shakehead

Edit: I feel bad for the kid. Hopefully it doesn't hurt his confidence going forward. I really hope he has a huge game in the bronze medal match.

Of all the players in that team Mikael was the last one that I would had expected to completely mess up in the shootout, but even he is human.

Hopefully will have a solid game in the bronzematch.

even the great's have made mistakes before

hopefully he takes it on the chin and moves on and continues his great game :handclap::handclap:

People still have said he hasn't done well . . .

And after today, I don't think he's done well in the tournament as a whole. In the "big three" games for Finland (CAN, USA, SWE), he has one point - a pass that went off the Americans and into the net. He wasn't very good against Canada. Pretty much the same story against USA and Sweden. In the third and OT tonight, he was nearly invisible offensively. Even in the easier games he racked up points on, there's two problems. First, the Denmark game was already getting out of hand before the first line got on the board, and the Slovakia game was 2-2 in the 2nd before they produced. And second, how many points does Granlund have if he doesn't have a shooter (TP) on his wing? He's not getting those assists if someone isn't scoring. Coming up big in a 2-2 game against Slovakia shouldn't have been his highlight.

As much as I love Granlund, I 100% agree with everything here.

So now knock the kid for having great playmaking ability and finding the open man? His best asset? He makes people around him better and will only be better when moving to the NHL playing with even better players. I can play the game too, how many points would he of had if Markus could of seriously just put in a few of the glorious chances he gave him. He does have to shoot more though definitely, has that Bouchard in him. Also, his game might not of shown up on the scoresheet today but was great, especially defensively. TSN couldn't stop praising his play and how just him bringing his game made a huge difference this afternoon and how he is NHL ready. He is still the best prospect not in the NHL and has done nothing during this tournament to still not have that title.

So Ferraro was raving about him for nothing then? Against Canada, he had 4 great set ups that could've easily been goals (all in the 1st period, then the game got out of hand). Today, he had a great pass that his brother messed up.

Do you know what playmakers need to put up points? Yep, shooters. No doubt he needs to shoot more, and he'll fit in great with us in that regard, but I don't think he had a bad tournament. Not as dominant as I hoped. I guess Washington should be worried about Kuznetsov as well (although he has at least 1 game to fix that).

I wasn't that surprised, it just had to turn out somehow for Sweden. It would have been massive steal for Finland to win after game like that. Many players including MG went totally exhausted, even over their limits when defending against those Swedish attacks (57 shots on goal). First line were helping whole game defenders, they made so much extra work it had to show up somehow at some point.. For the better team, GL for finals! :handclap:

definitely wont. you're right that move was not exactly people were waiting for, but the guy has proven so many times his potential to break games situations like that.. that's really nothing to worry. maybe this was something he was need of to become even better player. whole finnish team played really well but they just weren't even near of sweden, lacking size, speed, power, tactics, even skills.. so there was little to left that missed deke.

next.

Still am very angry and disappointed that we choked that one in the end. Sure Sweden was better whole game but it's just typical that we can't perform the last 5 mins, everytime. It always has to be decided by a bad play.

Yeah MG didn't have that good tournament, sure he racked up soem quite easily earned points but the critic against him is getting out of hand. He served Pulkkinen and Markus atleast 3 passes per game that a better goalscorer would've put in.
He was working hard defensively and gave it all every shift he was on, i'm happy with that. I know he will turn out great in the NHL, i'm not worried.

It became obvious that Granlund cannot dominate in small rink against top opponents. First, he is simply still too slow (compare e.g. to Kuznetsov), secondly, there's simply less space for passes.

It's obvious that you can't make a fair judgement on Granlund. You blow his skating way out of proportion. Sure may not be the fastest skater out there but by no means is he too slow. Watching him he showed that he has decent speed, and that with some help he could improve even more. The only knock i have on his skating his is stride. Its a very awkward one. Secondly the small rink didn't effect him one bit. He was still creating plays and setting up his linemates. How many times in this tourney did Markus or Pulkkinen not capitalize on opportunities that mikael gave them? He needed to shoot more in this tourney cause his linemates brought him down. You need to lay off the criticism of him all the damn time. It's getting pretty old.

So how many points are USA players done against good or bad countries? Don't look only points he gives everygame lot of opportunities to his line mates, but they couldn't do they job. Also Mikke was one of the best defensive forward in this tournament. If you think same in your country fellows, they will play whole they life in some "beer leagues".

hey, tournament isn't over yet. "Our final" is tomorrow.

By the way, Granlund should have shot more instead of making one extra pass for his brother, there were more than one instances where Pulkkinen set up Granlund and instead of shooting, he passed or tried to pass to his brother.

Any intelligent observer of the game would have realized that Mikael Granlund thinks the game on a whole another level than his linemates. Those guys killed so many plays.

Put Granlund in the NHL with real players and the guy will explode.

It's so great to have a Granlund troll like you.

Am i the only one who thinks Granlund was actually pretty fast, surprised me how fast he skated sometimes coast to coast from own zone to offensive zone.
