The Saint Mikael Granlund hypetrain part 2 (saucer passes turning to wine!)

Id like to see some more ilmaveivim (latrappe goals) from him since he seems to have a pretty good success rate with them.

What is that something? None of the scouts saw it. The only knock on him was his size, otherwize he would have gone top 3. You don't pick a player that small in top 10 if you think he might lack a little something. AND Do not answer with something about his skating!
He is a very agile skater and he has improved his speed every year.
His stance is great. Won't be pushed around.

He has improved his speed but doesn't create scoring chances by skating/speed. He really could use a little bit more explosiviness to get away from defenders. Now hes been shut down relatively easily at the WJC. His creativity seems to be diminished as the ice surface's been diminished. As he must play more straightforward and simpler game in the NHL it will lose part of its finesse and creativity. And I think this is partly due to his lack of explosiviness. If he could dodge the defenders more effectively it would give him more roome to operate also in small rink. He must give up some subtleties of his game because it's basically big rink hockey he's playing there, holding on the puck long too etc.

In my limited viewing of him during the tournament his skills remind me of Hemsky. Great stick handling and can make incredible passes but tends to hold onto the puck a little too long and sometimes passes up the shot in order to make the pass.

Now this is only from the games I've seen him in the WJC, but he certainly is a very skilled player.

Just saying one extra gear wouldn't hurt him. Hope he finds it during off season.

And while he hasn't been that impressive at the WJC yet (then again, WHO has been...?) he is nevertheless in top10 in scoring. So, overall hes been playing quite well.

He was advertised as a smallish guy with great hockey sense and vision, and I'd say he's lived up to that. His playmaking is ahead of the rest of his game, but seeing he is only 19, who's to say the rest won't follow. His goalscoring in Finland this year has been a nice surprise.
 
Pejorative Slured ****. Hes been looking sloppy and lazy there, as if he wasn't even trying his best. Yet he leads the scoring race. Somehow he always racks up points. Amazing player. And much better than he looks-.

Not you again.

Yes he is better than he has played this tourny but he can't do it all, he has passed to Pulkkinen 5 open nets per game, if he had a real goal scorer beside him he might have something like 15-16 assists.
He should shoot more tho.

This. Pulkkinen should have scored much more with the chances he has gotten. Although Granlund should shoot the puck more often.

Well, he may remind of you of Hemsky but Granlund's upside is much higher.

Anything lower than NHL top ten would be a dissapointment.

Well you are setting yourself up for a massive dissapointment if you expect any player to be a top 10 player in the league before they even make it to the NHL.

If Granlund had as much success at putting up points as Hemsky has in his career I don't see how you could possibly see that as a disappointment. Guys who hover around just under PPG are not all that common in this league. If Granlund can become that it would be a huge success.

Not too sure about Pulkkinen not being a real goal scorer, but he did get 9 shots on goal against Slovakia. I did not get a chance to see the game. I'd be surpised if fewer than seven of those shots came off feeds from MiG.

I would be disappointed, maybe because i'm very high on him but people have stated that Radulov and Granlund are top 2 players outside of NHL. We have to remind that Granlund is 19 and his game is better against men than Juniors.Granlund has very high upside. time will tell.

I don't disagree at all. He has very high upside. Just don't see that very high upside as being as high as some suggestions.
 
Being both a fan of the Oilers and the Finns, Granlund does remind me of a young Hemsky a bit, but if Granlund stays healthy I think he can have the better career.
 
Granlund is just amazing. Playing like 50%, looking lazy but still leading scoring in WJC. Meanwhile his arch enemy Kuznetzov has make all his points in one game against Latvia so stats-wise we can stop this speculation.

Like Bob McKenzie said in CANAL+ interview. He is best player among Radulov outside NHL. Nice to see when he gets real goalscorers for him?

It's nice to see how many hopes that he fails but always he seems to keep the game going. Overated? For sure.. In this forum he is bigger than Gretzky.

He was dominating WC with solid effort and now dominating WJC with decent effort.. Nice to see him next year with Koivu and Heatley.
 
What are you all crying about real goalscorers? You mean when he get's to play with Ovie or Stamkos? Yeah not gonna happen. Pulkkinen is as real as it comes.

Granlund hasn't played nowhere near his true ability in this tournament excluding the Slovakia game witch tells alot about the level of this tourney. He looks like he isn't even trying half the time but still leads in scoring. He's just too good to be there.

Granlund actualy played 10minutes on his true level on slovakia game which ended for 4 points.
