if there are trades to acquire a 3C, 4 liners, or D .... chances are someone is getting traded away

opening up a spot or 2

I will never stop banging the Cirelli drum this offseason because I think it's the best move but obviously at that cost I'd walk away.

#11 and minor adds or bust.

Teams need to stop helping Tampa out of it's own mess. If you want Stamkos on a career contract someone has to go and there won't be a better offer for Cirelli. If they don't wanna move him that's out of our hands. I'm sure someone will bail them out somehow.

I think Tamapa would move heaven and earth to keep him, and I also fell that Adams has like a $5m cap on his 3C. so I've moved on from that fantasy.

The XB mock offseason posts are always hilariously bad, in both value and evaluation.

In that one alone (this is from memory, so bear with me)
- they paid a premium to get Petterson from Pittsburgh (why?)
- Didn't even consider that Skinner has a full NMC when dumping his salary

I get it, these guys are doing this in their spare time and as hobbyists, but these are always super cringey

Of the Buffalo podcasts/media, Fairburn seems to have the best head on his shoulder and is pretty objective about the Sabres front office and recognizing the roster management issues

Watching the SCF, I'm going to revise my Cozens assessment.

I always thought Cozens was a winger. But if Adams can get the right parts, he's essentially what teams are looking for in a 2 or 3C playing a physical two way game.

Tampa is never parting with Cirelli. Buffalo might already have a future better version of him in Cozens.

So, I think in terms of 'ideal offseason', mine is pretty far away of what will actually happen

My ideal scenario:

1. Get rid of Skinner by any means
2. Find a partner that can play with one of Byram/Power
3. Find a 3C, the type can depend on your usage of Cozens
4. Find a 4C
5. Finally,

11, Krebs, and Marjala for Cirelli is my idea. Hard for them to turn down imo even though they of course don't WANT to move him.

Offer them a reasonable cap maneuver with a downgraded but serviceable replacement and a premium pick they haven't sniffed in years.

If TB believes in Krebs as much as some on this board, swapping Krebs for Cirelli and coming out $4.5M in the black is a solid move. If Krebs rides the wave of a successful team and hits the ground running they might have something.

They only have one 3rd across the first three rounds of the next two drafts, gotta recoup or risk really crashing once this window closes (if it isn't already closed).

Marjala is a lotto ticket that might be a top 10 prospect for them and unfortunately he feels like the type that Tampa could turn into an NHLer.

Very good release, I almost completely agree with them and their player lists.
Other than Kane, all of the names make sense. I would hope they move on two of them. Their dman discussion made me a little sad. Demelo or Roy would make a lot of sense this year except that we brought in a redundant LD at the deadline and that complicates things. And then Fairburn brings up the giant black hole that is our 3C situation...FML

Well we don't know Ruff specific plan on defense other than he prefers balanced pairings, but we don't know how he would feel if he had four lefties in his top 4. I'm all for DeMelo or Roy because I think we need a guy like that on the second pairing who can play with the same Byram or Power. I like Sammy, but until he proves he can stay healthy, I'd rather sign a top 4 RD.

They didn't want to sign 3C in UFA and in the next issue about trade they will definitely trade for 3C.

Ehhhh. Being a perfectionist has a lot more pit falls than benefits in a lot of fields.

Do your work well, learn while you’re on the job, be engaged. If you’re worried about a perfect result every time you’re never going to finish and will never be ready to move on.

Could not agree more - they traded greenway, henri and a 2 for Petterson ( another lhd) - I mean why?

And don’t even get me started on 11+ Savoie and having to take a camp dump on top of if for Cirelli - the kicker for me is they are of course just fans but they claim to be smart/analytic based…and it is obvious they are not. They way overpay in every trade

I can't for my life find one good trade scenario where a team agrees to give Buffalo a good C. About every team with a good pending UFA will be able to re-sign them if they want, with the new raised cap ceiling. There are no cap problems forcing a guy out, except for maybe Winnipeg and Monahan, only because they might have one too many centers on the roster. They could still choose to re-sign him over Toffoli though.

FWIW, they also would still have room to re-sign DeMelo. Only Buffalo has to worry about the cap...

Looking at the roster now sabres need 3 players for the 4 th line and a uppgrade in the 3 th line

Peterka Thompson Tuch
Benson Cozens Quinn
Skinner Krebs Greenway
- - -

Dahlin Samuelsson
Byram Power
Jokiharju Clifton
Bryson

UPL
Levi

Girgensons, Olofsson, Jost , Robinson , clague, comrie should be gone

Status om savoie kulich Ostlund and rosen ? Are they Many years from NHL ?

Tampa would rather have Cirelli than draft picks and young players.

They’ve got an older core of Kucherov, Hedman, and Stamkos. And they want to keep Stamkos.

They’ve got a younger group with Point, Cirelli, Sergachev, Cernak, etc that they want to continue to build around.

I do t see any reason for Tampa to move away from that team for futures. They’ll mortgage futures to keep this group viable.
