And when he inevitably gets bored and stops trying, will Washington be able to offload that horrendous contract like the kings did?The Kings sold low on PLD. And Washington was the only one with the sense to buy at the right time
Time will tell.

It’s called pattern recognition, look at his last 3 clubs. It was an effort and/or attitude thing. Glad he is in the East.PLD threads always seem to attract people that live in the past who enjoy telling others to beware the future.
PLD has been IMO the Caps' most consistent performer and routinely over the past month especially has been (along with Protas) the only consistent source of offense and puck possession while the rest of the team has struggled immensely. He already did have his "slump" early on in the year when he couldn't buy a goal and that hasn't stopped him at all.The issue with PLD isn't his contribution when the team is doing well. The issue is when the team isn't doing well - he's not part of the solution to dig the team out. He's a secondary piece being paid to be a leader, which he is not. I'm not surprised that he's finally putting up some points again, but the tide is going to turn hard when things slump.
P LiddyDoes he still ask to be called PL Dubois?

I'm not saying that it wasn't the right move for LAK to move on from him or that he wasn't frustrating last year, but the inability of people to take in new information in general and about this player specifically is mind-boggling.
You kind of answered your own question. Not sure where this idea came from that if a player can play center they HAVE to play center. Put someone at wing and call it a day. You will always have injuries, you will always have guys caught out of position during games, you will always have guys getting removed from the dot. They already had Kopitar and Danault at 1C/2C so how do you push Danault (and his $6.75M) down the lineup to accommodate PLD? Or bring in PLD as a 3C? Either way, that's a huge cap hit for a depth center. They also had Byfield, Turcotte and Valiardi all capable of playing center.
If I had someone that I had a giant problem with and couldn't wait to get away from, I wouldn't waste time badmouthing them to whoever was willing to listen. It’s called pattern recognition, look at his last 3 clubs. It was an effort, attitude thing. And sometimes both. Glad he is in the East.
Lets see he have been consistent in his play from the start for the Capitals. That he didnt fit in a 3rd line for the Kings doesnt really matter much. The thing with inconsistent players with a bad motor is that they rarely keep it up over the long term.
He is the best forward on the team along with Protas this year. The first line had insane chemistry before Ovi's injury, but after that its been all PLD and Protas taking care of the offence. He is a toolsy player who will never play above his tools but often below. He's doing alright on a team that had no expectations coming into the season and is in a good environment. The expectations for him were so low that any time he plays in line with the bare minimum you would expect given his contract people tend to positively overreact. I've seen him around 6-7 times this season and have zero desire to have him on my team. The impressive parts of Washington are goaltending, blueline depth, the emergence of Protas and McMichael and coaching. They are riding a good energy-wave and seem to have a very cohesive unit of guys under Carbery but they are not serious Cup contenders and will likely come back to earth next season. You aren't winning anything with Strome-Dubois down the middle.
Let her rest then and stop throwing her name into argumentsShe's been dead for decades, but OK.
Im interested in hearing how Columbus got better when he left. There was a youtube video on this showing how
In his career dating back to Jr every team he played on got worse when he arrived. And better when he left
Until now
I wonder how things will go next year and the year after once the new coach bump fades

The following season after he left though the team was better without him points wise and that is what it showed. It was talking about how his history showed that teams he played on would soon get better once he left. In this case it was 2 seasons afterWhat…? Definitely not true at all lol. I saw every game PLD played for Cape Breton and he was the hardest working player on the ice night in and night out while putting up 1.5PPG or so.
We certainly didn’t get better when PLD was moved in his 19 year old season lol.
Pierre-Luc Dubois is playing well this season, he has 39 points in 49 games and is showing good effort. He was acquired by the LA kings for Gabriel Vilardi (who is having a monster season), Kupari and Iafallo. After paying a king's ransom for PLD's services, LA jettisoned him barely 1 year later for an aging goalie (was seen as basically being given away for free at the time).
Now to be fair, the LA Kings are a good team but that is in spite of making not one, but two disastrous PLD trades. How much better would they be if they still had Vilardi and co, or if they had this version of PLD playing for them? Probably cup contenders.
Discuss.

The same thing happened in Winnipeg and now Colombus. Teams are better without him
I’m talking about the following season. 1 year after they left they had more points and a higher points percentage.Well I’m telling you that isn’t true lol, Dubois lead the eagles to a 38-25-5-1 season in 2015-2016 and they had the exact same point percentage the next season where he played half the year before being traded.
The following season (no Dubois at all) the eagles were just a hair above .500.
