Fair, but that has nothing to do with the tribalism from fans who are going to war in the trenches for one particular brand.

If you read some of the comments on social media you'll see how toxic some wrestling fans are. I don't understand it.

At this point I really want to see WWE throw a whopper of a contract at MJF just to see Tony's mental decline go into overdrive.

Any "War" would be effectively over at that point. They'd have stolen AEW's one and only consistent ratings popper.

What wrestling business has the next Randy Orton?

We could go on for pages about this lol. End of the day, people need to realize two things about Randy Orton:

1. For the first half of his career, if not longer, he was not at all an entertaining promo or character. Orton was pretty f***ing awful until about 7-10 years ago when he really stopped caring and just decided to have fun. Earned the name Randy Boreton early in his career.

2. His wrestling has been pretty universally deemed badly underrated by guys inside the business. Fans will look at all the different moves a guy does and rate him based on that. At one point I think there was a Jericho podcast with Edge where both agreed he's the best wrestler in the world and he doesn't know it.

People who compare?

As far as wrestling and look goes, I know @AtlantaWhaler will lose his mind, but Theory is the one that immediately comes to mind. Again, this is about look and wrestling exclusively. Has the look and, at a young age, pretty much does every move properly, safely, and has great timing. Doesn't do any flip dives or any goofy shit. Doesn't hurt people. And before somebody says "His matches are boring", go watch some 2000s heel Randy Orton and all the f***ing rest holds he'd do for heat. Theory's pretty awful character and promo wise, but as already noted, so was Orton at the same age.

MJF is comparable in terms of wrestling and look. Doesn't do any flip dives or goofy shit. Doesn't hurt people. Has good timing. But character and mic-wise he's miles ahead of where Orton was at the same age. (And probably where Orton has ever been in his career)

Another name people probably wouldn't think about simply because they might just be looking at the guys... Rhea. Same reasons as above.

Thank you for the great answer!

I appreciate it. MJF rocks

NXT this week had more total viewers then Dynamite. Less in the demo.

NXT had NLCS Game 7, NBA return, and Frozen Frenzy as competition.

Dynamite had a larger slate of NBA games, no baseball playoffs, only one hockey game on TNT.

Was it this week or last week that AEW essentially lost 200K viewers as soon as MJF was done?

Of course, I wasn't implying that match hurt the ratings, more the lack of build didn't help make up for those outside factors.

I just wanted that match with a build on a PPV is all.
Yeah I’m not sure if they wanted to see if they could pop a big number or just totally underestimated what else was on

Even if it wasn't on a PPV just putting it on a "Special Dynamite" like a Grand Slam, or Winter is Coming, or something and start talking about it 2-3 weeks out and promote it heavily would have made sense

Rough week for Collision despite MJF/Omega...though having that match with no build on the Saturday show maybe wasn't the best idea
Well, Tony's idea of booking is scheduling cool matches.

Giving away Omega and MJF as a cold match with no built was dumb as f***.

I am not saying do not have it on Collision, but Jesus, make it bigger. Not just a throw away line about "if MJF wins he will beat Omega's record".

I dunno... tell a story? I know they are building to White vs MJF, but they could have delayed that a little bit to do the Omega story.

I mean, I know it's getting to the point of beating a dead horse, but it's still relevant as Tony is still doing it...

... The guy has zero f***ing idea how to book or promote. He throws two workers together that'll have a good match but, outside knowing they'll have a good match, gives you zero reason to actually want to see the match or get behind one of them.

And also books said match opposite the World Series and college football, so there is no buildup of an angle, no time to promote it, and it is on the B show against huge competition on several other channels

You mean 3 time Wrestling Observer Booker of the Year Tony Khan?

It seems like Tony's booking skills are on par with mine when I got all my brother's star war figures and mixed them up with the DC Super Power Superhero figures to have a dream wrestling league where on any give card you could have Darth Vader vs Superman or Chewbacca vs The Joker

And much like Tony Khan I loved having a Battle Royal at the top of every card.

Believe I saw that Shida was the top quarter this week, even over MJF.

Women's wrestling DOES draw

When booked right. The problem is that the womens division in Ring of Honor, that you have to pay $9.99 a month to watch, or stay after Collision to watch, is booked and built up better than anything TK does on Collision, Dynamite and Rampage for the womens division.

I think that's a pretty apt analogy.

Tony Khan isn't a booker. He's a billionaire's kid that likes collecting things and playing with them. If he was better at his job then AEW has a good enough roster to contend with WWE.

I think Tony's okay at booking. Not as much the past year and a half but he was damn good before that. Definitely a lot better than the crap booking WWE has. And lol at thinking a 4 year old company could be on par with a company that's basically dominated the wrestling business for the past 40 years.

Cody left about a year and a half ago. What if Cody was the bug in Tonys ear that lead to all the "good" booking and now that he is gone Tony has just gone rouge.

Just floors me how MJF and Omega could have been booked significantly better. If one wanted to it would be tough to book it worse than what Tony did. I don't watch AEW anymore but do follow along. If booked properly I would have tuned in to see MJF and Omega have a proper feud.
