A lesser skilled team can play a very solid game against a more skilled team and lose. You lose but you play fundamentally good hockey, your prospects develop, and you fight hard but just don't have the talent to win. Awful hockey is a where you don't respect your fans and put a disastrous product on the ice that is not NHL caliber. Think classic, classless Penguins tanking.

This team has vets playing like trash and young kids regressing so it's disappointing beyond the basic tank. It can be both and therefore not ironic or comical.

That’s the issue. Most of the season, this team competed hard and was enjoyable to watch.

It’s now regressed into bad hockey being played by veterans that have mailed it in and kids that are no way as good as the hype.

That could lead to a decade of disaster.

B-b-but they're young....

Jesper Fast is the test subject of an advance underground society with futuristic technology capable of slowly erasing the existence of any person from the timeline slowly over the course of a few years. Most Rangers fans are forgetting that Fast is even in the lineup despite not missing a game for months now. Next year he'll show up to camp and play a few preseason games and when the official opening night roster is announced, no one will notice his name is left off. NHL, NHLPA, and NYR will all misplace his documents and contracts and we'll get the contract slot back.

It's very difficult to have an entire season of playing well but not well enough to win. The Rangers this year were that team for about 60 games that were competitive and played really hard with minimal talent. The problem was they didn't lose in regulation and kept getting points. Now they just suck and I can't wait for this season to end.

Right there. I never understood why the Chytil and Andersson hype got to the level it did. I guess every fan base overhypes their players, but apparently Andersson was Ryan O’Reilly 2.0 and Chytil would “go top 5 in the 2018 draft.” Like, I get being excited for prospects, but that was way too far.

However, I’ll admit I’m very hyped for Kravtsov and Miller. Especially Miller. I mean, if those guys disappoint, it’s going to be one long rebuild.

Relax everyone, we are pointing in the right direction. The GM is icing a roster that cant win for draft position, its why most of our trades never included players coming back that could help now. Let the plan play out before everyone gets in a snit.

Unfortunately, for a tank season like this has become those things have to happen. If the kids were playing well and/or the vets were playing well we wouldn’t suddenly be coming close to the bottom 5 in the league. We need to stay positive and hope that next year is gonna be a step forward for the kids and the guys in their prime like Zibby/Kreider play well.
It is what it is at this point. The plan is hopefully to be competitive by 2020-2021. If this batch of kids from the 2017,2018 drafts don’t develop and become productive nhl players we will for sure be in trouble even if we get a kakko or Hughes.

I don’t get Andersson.

Chytil was actually a good pick. And he is extremely talented. Just freaking DUMB! Reminds me of Kovalev with less ability.

I’m not sold on Kravtsov, but have high hopes for Miller.

Andersson profiles to be a better Brandon Dubinsky. Less punching. Better shot. He'll be fine but it'll take a few years.

I agree Chytil was a solid pick, but now we’re seeing why he was ranked in the 30s and 40s. The hockey IQ is lacking for sure, which is what I value the most when evaluating prospects (along with skating ability).

Chytil looked good earlier in the year. The kid has skill. He is 19 and needs to work on his game and conditioning. I also believe that Howden and Anderson will be solid NHL'ers. You have to give 19 and 20 yo's time to develop their game and yes they are young and yes it matters. If they are 22-23 and not developing then it's a different story. Right now we just have to have some patience.

One year in and are we are talking decade of disaster. This is why you cant rebuild in NYC.

I was told we aren’t allowed to speculate or ponder about Andersson’s future. Evidently, he hasn’t reached the age of speculation.
