It's no coincidence that Kreider has been awful and we've lost six in a row.

On the one hand, I'm extremely pleased with the effort this group has shown night in, night out for the entire season (sans a few games here and there).

On the other hand, I can't imagine a season worse than this one. We knew that this team was not going to be good this year. We knew the playoffs were never a possibility. We knew the biggest victory was getting a high slot in the draft. Yet we have racked up so many damn loser points that as it stands now, we are very likely picking outside the top 5, if not closer to the 10thOA.

That is just awful compensation for a season in which we had no expectations. I hope we bottom out next year, but if not we are just going to go through another cycle of mediocrity/near misses in all likelihood unless a divine miracle appears such as a Datsyuk like player falling to us late.

That’s one way to look at it. Still I think there are other benefits to this season. The culture is way better than it had been for a couple years. And a lot of players have improved. Not to mention Quinn has installed a truly modern and entertaining system of play.
