Gotta give them credit, they don’t quit. Once we get a little more talent as long as Quinn can keep this attitude instilled in them it’s going to be very good.

Love the attitude.

Want it when we have more talent.

Obviously we can’t control that, but I’ll take their moxy as a contributing factor to a roster that has one of this year’s better talents on it.

There's some positives in here
Yep, I've ragged on Quinn but the one thing is they sure as hell wouldn't be doing this if Av was still the coach. He has them playing hard and never quitting while at points last year the whole team looked disengaged. Its gonna be nice having a never quit attitude when were good again. The problem is them doing this rn is gonna make it harder for them to get good again.

Sheer effort is really causing all the OT games. They hang in and don't give in. They still pull a ton of crap all over the place per 60, but the effort somehow overcomes all the bad stuff. This team is really not that far from being halfway decent with a bit more talent with some finishing skill.

A lot of the teams that really bottomed out hard ended up not being very good, with the exception of Pittsburgh who got Crosby and Malkin.

We're not getting Crosby or Malkin in this draft or likely any other.

I'm fine doing this and picking 7th. You make due with your picks or you don't.

Ultimately at the end of the day you have to. There’s no other alternative.

But admittedly it’s hard not to at least pull for the best odds of being in a position to at least land the Petterssons of the world.

In other words, even without a generational talent, I’d prefer they get as many shots at their first choices as possible, as opposed to the second or third guy on the list.

Sure, but this is who we are.

I'd love to naturally be worse, but we aren't, and I'd rather pick where we are than have the rotten atmosphere of outright trying to lose, like New Jersey is.

Rangers might have a serious problem on their hands with Georgiev and Shestyrokin. There's a good chance Igor will have a clause to go back to Europe if he's in the AHL, but it's not like Georgiev should be sent down to the AHL either he's been great recently.

I think Byram has been climbing up a lot of boards. May be gone well before the 7th pick. This link has him at 3:

Yeah I have a feeling that Byram and Cozens are high probability candidates for a top 5 selection. The unknowns for me are Podkolzin, Dach and Boldy. I can envision any one of them also being in the top 5.

Right now, if I had to guess, I’ll go with Hughes, Kakko, Byram, Cozens, Dach and either Boldy or Podkolzin going 1-6.

Picking 7th, I’d take...Turcotte.

You can’t assume if the Rangers finish anywhere from 7th-10th that is where they will pick from. As we seen in the past, 1 of 2 teams outside the top 5 move up into the Top 3 spots. So say Rangers finish 7th, they can easily finish 8th or 9th in the lottery. That’s the biggest reason why I want them at least 5th, better chance of moving up to Top 3 or at least a small fall to 6th or 7th.

I would say less than 5 percent chance of them finishing 5th-1st

The pattern of the teams that stayed at bottom were teams that:

1. Were not in big markets
2. Had at least one of poor goaltending, defense or coaching
3. Never had winning culture

That is how the Rangers avoid that trap. They have better infrastructure and geography.

Generational players are coming up in 2020 draft btw. For now, the Rangers need to draft smart, and hit on their picks. Sounds obvious but it's true

I think Turcotte makes a lot of sense at hypothetical 7. I'm still not ready to project where in the draft the Rangers will be picking, but I take him over Dach and Podkolzin at this stage. Might take Boldy over Turcotte but it's close.

I have Boldy 10th on my list, but it’s not hard for me to consider him a dark horse to go as high as fourth, depending on the team.

There’s several guys who we don’t typically see listed third or fourth on most mocks who very easily could hear their names called that early.

And I’m thinking this is more of a fit for the draft thread.

Yeah I mean, when you get past 5, if not earlier, I think it's going to come to preference. A lot of players in that 5-10, 5-12 tier. Krebs for example is a guy that can go anywhere I am not particularly high on him. But others might be. Dorofeyev could just like Kravtsov too, but I dont thjnk that thought makes me original

Can i sign off on the number 7 slot now??? grab a Byram or a Turcotte and hope for the best from tampa, dallas and winnipeg picks.

Dream is moving up in the lotto and grabbing one of the top 2. Then maybe we can get back to rooting for wins next season, instead of being onboard for the 'tank' and still picking 9th overall.

You're right, it's been draining.

The Oilers are just a depressing team.
Truly. They've got like three decent players. And then a cast of total nonsense. Their goalie was okay though. And they were actually playing decent defense I guess

It's the opposite of a team like Edmonton which apparently treats new coaches like fresh meat in prison.
