True, you can't eliminate it entirely. I guess the only other way would be to lottery for first 5-10 picks then... Takes all the logical tanking solutions out of it. Then put in conditions about teams that have won the lottery in any capacity, reduce their chances the following year

It depends how u define tanking @TheTakedown - we have sold off most value players to get into a position to build a new future core with additional picks, and we will automatically go down on the power ranking, Rangers are ranked about 28th now after their last game last weekend. But that will change - it all depends who we end up with in the draft!

But all NHL teams try to win games, and all coaches & players are paid to be professional and do their best on the ice to win. So when we say we need to lose this and that game like this forum is just wishful thinking though.

- What I was not happy about is that the Rangers Franchise should rest both Mika & Kreider earlier when they were obviously injured - we had nothing to play for than a lower position on the table end of this season so you just risk more serious injuries.

What happened? I was there in Sunrise. What did I miss,? Other than the Rangers, conspicuously missing in that 1st round.

The Oilers only had that 11.5% chance IIRC which is still pretty good but obviously a couple slots down.

Oilers almost need a lottery pick if they are going to playoffs with Mc David next season, but it`s time for other Franchises to shine and hopefully it`s Rangers, cross fingers in the draft lottery!

It would never happen and it's not realistic, but I'd love to see some sort of mini tournament for the top 8 picks.

Worst team plays the 8th worst
2nd worst plays the 7th worst
3rd and 6th worst play each other.
4th and 5th play each other.

All best of 3 series. Losers play each other in another bracket to determine the seeding. The remaining teams that dont qualify get ranked in standings order.

Winner gets the #1 pick.

I can understand that, but I don`t know - Oilers would be favorite again, because of drafting luck in the past. @UAGoalieGuy But this feel like a saturday night waiting for a lottery event to happen.. It`s based on luck and hopefully they don`t draw teams far above us to win it, but Rangers really need a Franchise player more than anyone else at the moment.

I`ll watch this live, but where will they send this event - any live streams?

I honestly don't know. I haven't had to deal with streaming games, much less events like this, for a while; I'm a bit out of touch with what sites are best.

Had the same idea, but best of 3 is way too many games it’ll go on for weeks. Each round is 1 game, but there needs to be an additional incentive for players because getting a higher draft pick is not on their list of priorities. In any case it would never happen for many reasons but it’s a fun idea.
