Because if you're always prepared for disappointment, you never get to experience the true joy of believing something can happen and then watching it happen.

Better to have no expectations at all, particularly of things that are not only outside of your control, but in reality outside of anyone’s. No expectations of good things or bad things and just taking them as they come. Then you get to experience the joy of something amazing happening without the stress of expecting disappointment.

Then again, I’m a nihilist about a lot of stuff. It works for me.
