What u guys like for Hayes mainly draft picks or a young prospect?
Depends on the prospect. If it’s a very good/great prospect like Fabbro or Fox, I’ll do that deal straight up, even if we have to add a little. If it’s a good prospect like Kylington or Appleton, I would like a 2nd/3rd round pick in addition to that. But I highly doubt the first scenario happens, and I have a feeling the second scenario is pretty unlikely as well, unless a team strongly feels they can sign Hayes. If we’re just getting back an average prospect and a 2nd/3rd rounder, I would rather just get something like a 2019 1st and a 2020 2nd (condition: turns into a 1st if team makes the SCF or something like that).

But hey, we’re still going to get more back for Hayes than the Islanders got back for Tavares.

Sucks they tied it so late. But exciting game nonetheless. I also don't agree with Brooks' sentiment. Smith is a pretty tough guy and can take over McQuaid's role if he is dealt.

Anyway team toughness>individual toughness.

This team is much tougher than when they had [insert goon here] playing 5 mins a game.
Yep. Every player played tough today. The caps were so upset all game. I really enjoyed watching them cry and tantrum. Good stuff.

He has not been able to light a fire under a few of them .....and some are likely not destined to be here long term either if our kids bust out . Seeing some improvements in Buch/Lias...small steps but they are at least in the right direction . Buch definitely better of late . I would not trade him or Lias....let them grow and Chytil should be playing a lot but in a lower league .
Buch has actually been tough the last few games. He tossed around some caps today. I was impressed. Same in the Devils game. It looked like he was surprised by his own strength. He does have pretty good balance for a taller guy. I’d say he has to embrace this to excel in the league. Not being a tough guy, but being confident he can do physically what he wants to do.

In spite of my preference for them to lose, I have been really impressed with how Quinn has impacted players this year. I, like others, have some issues with his player deployment/usage (but I think this would be the case with any coach). But overall, I have been largely impressed by his body of work this year.

People loved Renney for 2.333 seasons

Then the rebuild was over because we needed to buy shit to becomes Tort's Kinda Guys, so it was time to FIRE RENNEY! until we needed AV's System because we were no longer Tort's Kinda Guys. Then a few years after reaching and failing for glory in our peak of AV's system we apparently never needed AV's system because of his at best 70% accountability for 4th liners and journeymen. And he tried to ruin ADA and Buch, so we needed DQ for accountability and to rebuild , but then he ruined Buch and ADA too until we packed on a bunch of OT loses to be the worst ROW team in the league slightly in a wild card race during a rebuild. Now that we almost beat Washington, we don't really need to tank anymore because all our mid level prospects will pan out, and when they don't , it's probably something DQ did wrong and then we will HIRE RENNEY! but only as a joke in order to FIRE RENNEY for the lulz...

Dare I say that if he sticks around, he could actually become one of the team's leaders?
Let's see how it goes. Maybe the kid just needed to change his latitude and a coach who could extract from here more than others have?

Sure, the Callahans, Dubinskys, Girardis, Staals, Krieders, and Stepans are good, but getting a generational player or two is what springboards teams into contention. I’m sorry if you can’t see that, I would happy with wins if helped our draft odds, but sadly it doesn’t.
The term "generational player" gets used an awful lot, but I think gets widely misinterpreted. A generational player is just that. A player that comes along once in a generation. The Pens got lucky with Crosby and Malkin. Want to call McDavid in Edmonton generational? Fine. But not every top-3 pick is a generational player. Sometimes they are just really, really good players. Hughes looks to be one that is just that. He is NOT on a McDavid level.

You an have entire drafts for several years go by without having a generational player be available in them. The annals of amateur drafts are also filled with busts. Some taken with the first pick, some with the second, etc. Look at Daigle. Look at Lawton. Heck, Atlanta at one point was doing the jig because they had Heatly & Kovulchuk. Are either generational? Was Alexei Yashin generational? The list goes on....

The key is to identify something others may not see and pounce on it. Be it the draft, be it wise acquisitions. So far, Gorton has shown that he has such proclivity.

By and large, Quinn seems to have gotten many players to take their game to the next level. Not all, and some take longer than others, but overall I would say players have played better. And now they respond.

Yes...it seems to be easier though to have the smaller guys play bigger then to have the bigger guys play bigger . Guys like Shattenkirk and Skjei , Vesey and even Kreider, who in quite a few games is just not engaged...but appears to be getting better with that and maybe the C will take it one step further . You get those guys playing to their size and it changes the chemistry on this club instantly . It has to be a team wide thing like they have in Calgary....pack mentality .

I don’t doubt Rangers can build a solid, good team, I mean that’s what they were from 06-17, but they weren’t elite team that were one of the favorites to win the Cup. Even those 2014 and 2015 teams, as good as they were, they lacked that elite scoring punch to take it home. Right now, I’m not sure Rangers can those prospects yet. Hughes or Kakko would at least be a great starting point in addition to Chytil and Kravtsov. I just don’t want a repeat of the previous era of Rangers hockey as good as it was.

Sure, Hughes or Kakko would be great, but 1) neither is a generational talent 2) They are not going to have a shot at either.

I was gonna let this go but I gotta get Larry f***ing Brooks off my chest.

You had the shit faced f***ing audacity to say my team got "manhandled" yesterday. You've never been part of a team because nobody likes you, so let me tell you something you don't understand f***face: my team is in emotional turmoil right now. They're being gutted. My goaltender and the face of my franchise is inconsolable, crying tears because his team is being broken.

Despite all of that, my team goes out yesterday and leaves it all out there, fighting the champions of this league with everything they had, on the ice and in the alleyway, and your takeaway is that they're too soft.

f*** you, f*** the doctor that delivered you, f*** the paper you work for, f*** the very grave they'll lower your soulless corpse into. How f***ing dare you? How motherf***ing tap-dancing dare you?

And yeah, you did sort of leave a disclaimer that they "didn't get bullied" because you like to contradict yourself and also you're a sniveling coward, but your implication was still there and it's beyond my comprehension how you could even conjure that up in your ape brain or your black heart. f*** you, f*** you, f*** you in the neck.

And then you have the steel f***ing nuts to act like you cared about Kevin Hayes and talk about respect when you throw his brothers to the wolves like that.

You sniveling, worthless little less than a worm. Torts is another one but he was right about you and so was Dan Boyle. Beat up at the f***ing bus stop.

And don't get it twisted, I talk shit about this team as much as anyone, but that's different. This isn't your team, Larry, like it's my team. You've followed this team for years and you're invested in them, but at the end of the day you're a journalist. You do this because it's your income. I do this because it's my blood.

And yeah, the players get paid too but they live it, just like we live it. They pour every drop they have into this just like we do. What do you do for this team, troll? What have you ever done for this team?

This post was too good to get overlooked in the frenzy of Trade Deadline Day. Well done.
