Though, this shot blocking stuff is relatively recent. Twenty five, thirty years ago, it was only a select bunch of guys that were known as shot blockers.

When the equipment started turning into armor, jumping in front of a puck became a lot easier.

I remember Girardi in particular, used to be covered in bruises after each game; and every other shift you see a guy get "stung" and either skate it off or hobble to the bench.

Not for nothing but that was the second time tonight Claesson got called for an icing where he was maybe 3 inches short of the red line. Those never really get called icings so it’s weird to see it called twice on the same guy.

It's a lot more likely he saw/thought ADA would get to it. It's in his DNA to make a pretty or slick play. Why wouldn't he want to shoot it, that doesn't even make sense.
