The amount of people in the building who thought bum city Brinkley was going to score on that breakaway is astounding

I liked Pavel Zacha at the draft.

Never liked McLeod.
I didn’t like McLeod, and I was never a big fan of Zacha either (but preferred him over McLeod). Ty Smith is probably their best value pick, in my opinion. I was so pissed when he fell to them. Other than that, pretty rough draft history. In hindsight, even Hischier wasn’t the best pick.

what is this defensive posture. skate at the pointmen you idiots dont stand there

Andersson goes to the front of the net, which is good, but once he gets there he just kind of stops. He's not active or really moving at all, and he won't then slide behind the goal line to become a pass option when there's no chance of a shot

This is a great observation.

The best net-front guys learn how to be active and drive the net at the right time. This was a huge adjustment for Kreider as he went from rookie to vet.

On this play you can see how Kreider loses the D and catches Holtby moving because he didn't hit the crease until the shot is teed up.

Prior to that, he made a play along the boards behind the net which led to the goal just as much as the tip.

The good news is, this is very common and very coachable.

The good news for our rebuild is that we do tend to be a pretty strong drafting team all things considered -- we just haven't given ourselves the opportunity.

Yeah, McIlrath was stupid, but the fact that that pick was our only legit kick at the can for eight damn years (before Kravtsov) says more than the pick itself.

I won't judge Lias in that way because it just wasn't a great draft.
