That's where my head is at with this - the longer they keep Canada and this offense around, we run the risk of it ruining any potential Kenny may have.

I also still stand by my stance that Kenny and DJ just aren't a good match. I know DJ is "the most open receiver in the NFL," but if a QB can't find chemistry with the guy, it doesn't matter how open he is. I need to see KP his DJ with some chunk plays, but I'm not hopeful.

I mentioned this before, but a small, slow and receiver who isn’t explosive getting the bulk of the targets would never be happening on a top offense.
I think it's fair to say this L was a team effort

Plenty of blame to go around. Just Tomlin is the one face that stays the same and these types of games keep happening year in and year out.

So for me it’s like, what has changed really that will make them successful in the playoffs finally?

Despite the nonsense some poster spewed on here about how coaching doesn’t matter , it does, big time.

I'm not a knowledgeable football guy, but I feel like out of major sports football coaches have to be the most impactful during the actual game right? There's just far more opportunity to coach, plus all the play-calling etc. I get it isn't all the head coach, but it all comes down from them.

Yea it might be a fun exercise to rank coaches per sport by most influential to least.

This is my list, feel free to shred it :)

I can't decide if less subbing in Soccer makes the coach more or less impactful mid-game compared to Hockey. The decisions are bigger, but far less frequent.

I think coordinators are the most impactful. That's who the units are seeing as their leader. The HC is just a figurehead unless they are calling plays, then that obviously changes. The most successful teams Tomlin had had good coordinators. He refuses to hire them. Flores was a perfect opportunity and Tomlin was cool with him leaving.

I'd love to see Khan have an opportunity to GM for a really good, young HC. Think about this, gang - Tomlin is only 50. He could conceivably be the coach for another 15-20 years.

That's the thing.

I don't think that Tomlin is a bad coach. He is closer to hopelessly mediocre to even slightly above average.

Canada is a bad coach.

Which is the real problem.

If he we're Canada bad he wouldn't last.

So, we are the Philadelphia Flyers of the NFL. Going to be stuck in mediocrity for decades to come.

I'd put soccer as more impactful as formation has a bigger impact. A decision to change the shape of the team, move positions, can be seismic. Sure, hockey has line changes, but it's still going to be 3 forwards 2 dmen and - crucially - the pace of the game is going to really erode the structure they put in a lot of the time. A bigger playing area and slower players makes formation far more important.

No. The Philadelphia media and fans always have high expectations that if things don't work out in ample time, changes are made and things get purged. I think this is more a problem with the Flyers than Eagles given how it is easier to make changes in the NHL. Sometimes they won't have the patience to let things stick and have a chance to grow.

Pittsburgh is the extreme opposite. The problem is staring everyone in the face and media and fans turn their heads. Like it's normal to hire anyone off the street and give a 40 year contract.

Im originally from Eastern PA and tried explaining this: The Philly media would have a field day with Rooney Tunes and Tomlin to the point that they probably wouldn't be allowed back in the city.

I definately think that Rooney is way more excited about the Steelers playing in Ireland than he is about the actual team and its success on the field. That said, the team and coaching is not an absolute Brown's level failure. They are mediocre. And a Gentleman's C while checking the bragging rights boxes for his country club friends seems to be enough for this generation of ownership.

Thats the thing, if that were true, the Philly media would be calling for Rooney out to sell the team.

Until AR2 doesn't see this team not winning playoff games as an issue, then it's a non-issue. We pissed away a generational QB with poor coaching. There are no bounds at this point.

Imagine if Andy Reid ever got to use Ben, Brown and Bell in their primes like the Steelers did.

Coaching 100% is huge in football. The Steelers have a defensive HC in an offensive league and frankly his defenses are getting torched by competent offenses unless Watt goes off and carries the team.

They only played in One playoff game together and Ben like Mcnabb would have thrown 50 passes a game bell wouldn’t be used

And for the 100th time, they didn't play together bc Bell was often injured during the playoffs.
Why was he injured, you ask? Bc Tomlin ran the wheels off of him during the RS.

If Warren didn't exist, Harris would be getting 98% of the snaps.

Back to the coordinator discussion.
Tomlin and his preferred coordinators are not innovators. Neither Tomlin nor anyone this dope hires or promotes to coordinator innovates in any way whatsoever. There is no mystery here.

We may have bitched about LeBeau at the end, but that dude innovated. What he did to the zone blitz enabled the Steelers D to straight destroy offenses (aside form Pats) for a damn long run.

What in the hell has Tomlin EVER innovated on?
What in the hell has any Tomlin coordinator hire EVER innovated on?

Nobody has to guess a damn thing when they play the Steelers.

The issue I had with LeBeau is the league was changing and he wasn't quite changing with it. Once the league went to a more pass happy offensive style, we didn't have the secondary to stop that.

Lebeau was 78 years old when they moved on from him.

The game passes everyone by at some point, but that doesn't change the fact he was one of the most brilliant defensive minds the game has ever had.

It's not a secret that Tomlin being a defensive savant was built on the back of Lebeau.

Not sure how many times his D has to get embarrassed and set some new historical records for ineptness before people wake up to reality.

Now we are fresh off the worst Tomlin home loss in his tenure.

He's like a fine wine and just keeps getting better with age I guess.

If this offense comes out against Cleveland and throws up another dud, Canada has to be shit canned. They have to nip this to salvage this season.
They will and Canada will still be here lol…Browns will be a top 5-7 defense this year…

I don’t think they are that good they have some major questions in the back 7. They are definitely built to have a lead and let that front eat

They’re really good at the corners…safety and LBs are mediocre but the D line and corners will be enough…every D has some relative weaknesses

Probably would have done the same thing he did with all the weapons in Philly. Not win a Ring, and poorly manage the clock like Tomlin.

People seem to forget that before the cheat code that is Mahomes, Andy Reid was a giant underachiever.

2009 until 2017, the season before he got Mahomes, Reid won 1 playoff game.
