Lose the next two and the Steelers could easily break into the top ten of picks.

The Steelers have zero chance at a top ten pick due to the SoS tiebreaker. They lose to basically every team in the league except Cincinnati.

And the teams at 7-8, play the other 7-8 team in their division in week 17 or week 18. Thus, the absolute highest they can pick at this point is 13th.

Even if they lose both games. They will probably end up 15th-17th.

Correct. Winning last game basically ensured they cannot get a top 10 pick unless teams below them all of a sudden start winning and the Steelers lose out.

I won't be on until Tuesday so I'll make my prediction now

The offense we saw last week will NOT be on display. Tomlin was essentially coaching for his job vs the Bengals and they were super aggressive on offense.

Now that the heat is off, we'll see this offense revert to the run-run pass punt that we've become accustomed ed to this entire season.

I'd really love to be wrong on this and see Rudolph have more success, but he'll be handcuffed just like his predecessors. Then it'll be super easy to move to KP for the finale vs Baltimore.

I've seen this movie before. Sorry for the spoiler

We all know how this is going to go. The Steelers will lose on Sunday, then go into Week 18 needing a win and 8 other results to fall their way. The Pickett fans will be all over the place saying that if they'd played Pickett they'd have won, and Tomlin will go back to Pickett for the finale. They'll beat the Ravens' backups to preserve Tomlin's streak but will fall short of the playoffs and end up with like the 18th pick, Tomlin will get an extension, and we will get 2 more years of Pickett being given a chance to prove himself. Feel free to bookmark.

I don't think you're going to see a difference in approach this game. I think they've been fairly consistent since Canada got sacked. Run-heavy - only game where that wasn't true was NE, who have a stout front and got in front quickly - with shots down field.

The question is what they'll be able to do with that approach. Whether they can get the run game going. Whether they can maintain pass protection long enough for things to develop.

Seattle aren't a good defence so they should have a hope, but I'm still skeptical.

This is Mason's career game. He balls...he's an NFL QB for the next few years. He doesn't...he's probably selling commercial real estate in the summer.

I predict 20/33 for 200 yards, 1 passing TD, 1 rushing TD (sneak) and 1 pick. Right in between those options.

Regardless of how the offense does, the Steelers will lose this game bc the defense is made of paper mache and duct tape at this point…no way they stop Geno Smith and the weapons he has

Seattle for whatever reasons has been a notoriously tough place for Pgh to play.

They have only won a single game up there, and that was in ‘83.

The Steelers woeful record in Seattle vs Tomlin’s mastery of winning meaningless games to get that 9, makes this an impossible game to predict.

Seattle haven't been a wildly successful offence this year. Even with the injuries, it shouldn't be a gimme for them.

Depends on the team they play but yeah, they’ve been rather mediocre but they’ve put up points on bad defenses…their offense certainly has been better than ours overall this season (which isn’t hard to do lol)

Well that's the challenge innit? Find a way that Myles Jack and Patrick Peterson at safety doesn't mean bad defence. They managed it vs the Bengals, but I have my suspicions about that.

I'm not expecting a great day at the office but they shouldn't be destroying this defence.

On a tangent - had it pointed out to me elsewhere that the nature of Wilson's contract is any salary he collects next year only offsets how much Denver pays him. Or, in other words, there's no point him asking for 20m.

Which maybe affects the practicality of him as an option.

There's a real argument to make that JPJ has been the best cover corner in the NFL this season. Pretty amazing that he couldn't get on the field the first 6 games of the season.

How much of that separation # is impacted by holding and interference?

He needs to cut back on the penalties a bit to reach that level of consideration. Not saying he hasn't been impressive, but lets temper the accolades just a bit.

it's going to depend on Rudy. if he views this as his last chance to get another gig in the nfl, and is willing to ignore mt and play his ball then a win could be there. if he thinks mt is his buddy, and plays as he is told then, yes, it's a lost cause. and it will be the last we will see of the rudy. imo

Really struggling to see how anyone could have watched what Porter has done this year and decide it's important to denigrate it, but ok. Every statistical measure has him as one of the best cover corners in the NFL this year and he's always going more flags than some as he's a physical player - I'll take that trade. And really, he's had 3 DPI's and 3 defensive holding penalties this season. It's hardly a crazy amount and certainly not enough to offset the complete shutdown corner he's played.

Porter has had 12 penalties called on him. Only 8 accepted, but that's still an issue worth bringing up if we're talking about him being the best in the game.

Two were offsides penalties and two were facemasks on tackles. I didn't say he was the best in the game - he clearly isn't strong enough in run support or other areas to be at that level. All I said was his coverage grades are either 1 or 2 of any CB in the NFL, which they undoubtedly are, but ok. Sneed has more penalties and I doubt KC fans dump all over him, but I realize it's the way of this board. So be it. I think he's been the best development on this roster in 2023 and nothing is close.

Last year's DB class seems to be one of the best in a very, very long time.

JPJ has been impressive and OMO called it in the spring - so he gets big props for scouting out JPJ.

I was pissed about the pick for several reasons, but Tomlin may have finally come thru with drafting and developing a corner.

He has had faith to let him shadow the other teams top flanker every week and deserves credit for that.

Porter is really good and they got him for Chase Fing Claypool. Even through this mediocre year, the things Khan was able to do and who he brought in have been good. The MLBs were really just starting to gel when they all got injured and the D fell off after. Before that I actually liked who they had. If I were to point to any mistakes he made I'd guess you'd have to cite keeping Daniels over Dotson.
