I don't go CB at 32. There are plenty of them in this draft, 49 is where I go with one. And I definitely look to trade down. I think someone like the Raiders looks to trade up to grab Levis. 38+100/109 for 32.

BMac stated they should take Brian Branch because of his versatility.

And I love how every bad pick is Tomlin's fault and every good pick was Colberts. And now it is, every "good" pick is Khan/Weidl and every bad pick is Tomlin.

Can someone who follows trade value charts break down to me what it would take for the Chargers to move from 54 to 32?

The Chargers' 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th in return for 32 and a 7th would be dead on fair.

Since I doubt they want to gut their draft, and since I imagine the Steelers are looking for a better return than dead on fair, particularly if they have to trade down that far... I've no idea. I dunno how next year picks are valued in NFL trades. But an absolute truck load.

I wonder if theres a team willing to do something silly for 32.

Either way i dont think theres really a bad outcome here.

Even if they go with guys that the board here doesnt like say, JPJ and whoever its still a hell of a value.

I havent really done my homework on Branch as i never felt he was an option at 17 or available at 32.

Pelissero says the phone was ringing before the end of the 1st round.

There's two QBs who had 1st round buzz sitting there. Teams wanted to trade with Eagles and Chiefs but they wouldn't. Now...

I mean you can't really go wrong with Branch or Porter here (I almost want it to hear Jiggy's rage) but there's a chance for a small haul. So many players I like on the board still.

The #Steelers’ phone was already ringing for the No. 32 pick before Round 1 ended, per sources.

Multiple teams made calls to teams at the bottom of the first and were believed to be targeting Kentucky QB Will Levis. Now the bidding is underway for the first pick of Round 2.

I think Peat may have said this yesterday but the best of both worlds would be the Lions wanting to trade up from 34 for Levis or Hooker. You get a day 3 pick back plus you’re guaranteed one of Branch or Porter.

Especially considering how this draft broke, adding this #32 pick was absolutely, insanely valuable for this team. Unless they screw it up, of course, and the knocks on JPJ scare the hell out of me. I'd do Branch all day and see who falls to you at 49. Should still be good cover corners there, and if you bust on one it doesn't kill you nearly as badly as a bust at 32.

Honestly it would take next years first and third and this years second for a team to get our second this year.

Many had Levis top five. He fell because he was the odd man out among four quarterbacks. Not because everyone saw him as a second round pick. Many teams still like him.

So yeah. A huge haul or no way.

This board looks really good for us if we don't move.

That is such a beautiful thing. And I think with Porter and Branch sitting there, with our needs, teams know that it's going to take a metric f***-ton to get us out of that spot.

It would be so juicy if the Raiders wanted to move up. Would give us a good team to root against next season if we had some of their picks.

I can't see a trade. There is 1st round talent on the board, i'm betting with at least several players sitting on the board that they love.

It look like either Porter or Branch.

Other names would be Washington, White, Mayer, Sanders, Tipperman & Schmitz.

I don’t have the personality to lose my shit over a pick.

Pretty much has never happened in all the years I’ve followed the Steelers/Pens draft.

Willis over KP might have been the one to do it though I’ll admit.

If they take JPJ I’ll see the pick at my daughter’s lacrosse game and curse quietly, but then try to convince myself posters like OMO are right about him.

I see one trade that I'd consider with Lions:
#32 for #34, #48, maybe their 4th as well.

Probably unreasonable but if so then I just take Branch and move on.

Edit: Hawks 37/52 + a pick. I'd consider that.

It would need to be 2 2nds this year and only a few spots back. Both Hawks and Lions could need their future QB...

Ehhh. A lot of media guys had him high.

The ones getting quotes from QB coaches and OCs... I wouldn't be surprised if Hooker was the target.

Still, only takes a couple who love him.

Good enough for me. My entertainment values would have been higher imagining you grabbing a stick and breaking it over your knee while screaming "this is what happens to stiff CBs in the NFL", but good enough anyway.

Did he say who wanted to move up?

'Fraid not. Digging round Twitter a little to see if there's any goss.

My hockey sticks are too expensive to snap, and it’s a moot point because I’ll be at a stadium full of ppl watching my daughter play her lacrosse game - so whipping my phone at someone’s grandma and screaming about JPJ probably wouldn’t be a good look.

I’ll have about 5 mins of quietly inventing new swear words then I’ll quickly move through the stages of grief…

“Maybe OMO is right… he did watch him a lot… maybe stiff corners are a hip new thing… they might double dip and still take Cam… it could happen…”

7pm start tonight fellas, don't be late.

As said earlier, I'm not going to be mad if JPJ is the pick. Yes, the stench of nepotism will be in the air but he's legitimately the top corner left on the board according to most draft publications. And it fits a major need.

By the way what are we calling Broderick Jones? BJ? BRod?

I kind of figured it would have to be a haul to get up that high from 54… but I see Branch sitting there and would love the Chargers to get him. Or Mayer… or Washington… tons of talent left on the board

A crap load. Honestly, for the Steelers to move 32 for 54 they would have to get the Chargers 2024 1st.
That makes sense. I figured it would take something painful, but there are so many talented options left I think I’d like to see the Chargers do it. But I can’t see it happening

If that grandma had a stable of mini horses they might forgive you, for the advanced warning.

I’ll be mad if JPJ is the pick…bust potential…I hope they trade down…CBs and some other players I like will still be there…

...and to be fair, that would be a massive overpayment. It would essentially be two 2nd's and a 4th this year for 32.

Not saying crazy things aren't possible, but that's a lot of capital. I think a 2 and a 3 is fair for 32. Detroit's 48 and 81 would get them to 32. So if a 1st next year is involved we would just be getting 81.

I’ll be mad if JPJ is the pick…bust potential…I hope they trade down…CBs and some other players I like will still be there…
Every player has bust potential, man. I don't know what JPJ has done to some people, but he doesn't have any higher potential of busting than anyone that has been taken already. And to boot, he's legitimately one of the top 3 guys left on the board. He should be gone already. To be mad if he's taken is kinda spoiled brat-ish.

Tbf, we underpaid. We got lucky that the board broke in a way where the Pats might as well take a slightly light offer as they'd lose nothing.

And theoretically, this is a sweet spot to collect an overpay.

But yeah, that one would be something. That would be fair trade value for Detroit's 18th pick. Got to think if Detroit valued either of the QBs left on the board that much they'd have just picked them at 18.

But who knows? Maybe there's a few teams who agonised over Hooker/Levis and are willing to spend a lot now the second chance is here... and if teams are mad enough for both of them, then Detroit could see them go at 32 and 33 in trade ups.
