I see no real reason to dump Soucy at the moment. Trade him if there's a reason to reallocate his cap hit and roster spot to a forward but, otherwise, he's a good buffer that prevents Juulsen getting into the line-up.

Moving him in the off-season makes sense. Especially if D-Petey can continue his advancement.
Yeah, I was a bit worried his value was going to continue to tank so they may as well move him but if he can play like he did last night in a reduced role he will be fine.

Mario would put up like 300 points in his prime if he was playing now. The goalposts has never been to the point where anyone would look at EP and say yeah that’s Mario good.
Is McDavid not considered one of the best to ever play? There were plenty of posts putting EP40 on that level.

If there was no justification for Alvin and Rutherford to repeatedly throw Pettersson under the bus for his conditioning/preparation, his agent is not publicly confirming his client's desire to stay.
Again, I'm saying they may feel like he trained around the injury wrong and time may have borne that out. Hence, they are not shielding him from criticism or expectations. Doesn't necessarily make them wrong to do so.

But the fact our braintrust isn't protecting him isn't evidence that he's 'bad' or 'doesn't care'.

It’s called marketing… of course all the media people are going to call McD one of the best, how else are you going to sell the game.

Mario put up points with guys hooking him and water skiing every night while having cancer and barely working out.

Tendonitis takes a full year to recover, I think playing through it for 4 months didn’t help it and most likely made it worse.
Also if he is recovered, recovered from an injury does not mean he is not back to his physical peak.
Have injury -> can’t train properly -> lose muscle -> recover from injury -> back to training -> gain muscle back

You don’t go from recover -> muscles back. Reality doesn’t work that way.

Mario is a f***ing freak, there is no point comparing any player to him because there is no player like him. He came back from retirement during the dead puck era and put up like a 100 points. He literally put up like 200 points smoking cigs between periods. He picked a corner shooting between the legs with the back facing the goalie. Like what are we doing here comparing anyone to him.

Tendonitis might take a few months to recover from, a full year would have to be a very serious case…there is no indication that it was that severe, at least based on EP’s own words.

Marketting? What are you talking about? The fanbase here was absolutely comparing EP40 with McD and Drai. not that long ago. When he first broke into the league, he was being compared to f***ing Gretzky.

His shine has slowly dulled over the years to this point.

Dom has the Canucks at 81% chance of making the playoffs, Flames at 22%.

Are you talking about normal people or athletes. I though the way how other leagues deal with tendonitis is to sit the player ASAP instead of getting them to play through it

I am a reasonable patient person trying to talk down the Pettersson hater screaming conspiracy at everyone who disagrees with him.

Whose screaming? I am replying to people discussing things. If you don't like that you can always put me on ignore.

I am taking about McD being the best player ever, that’s just marketing. Yes he’s the best player of this generation but he’s no Mario.

I’m not sure there would be a reason to differentiate tendonitis…its inflammation, I think its more about how you treat it IMO…I would think that if there was an issue with EP, someone would address it, especially EP himself, he seems like a pretty headstrong guy and if he felt like something wasn’t right he would say something about it, but that hasn’t happened.

His own words is it impacted his offseason preparation. That's not speculation. The data on skating speed tracking isn't a coincidence either.

was kinda bored so I compiled a list of players from every team and using management’s criteria of targeting U26 guys (with a couple of older players who could also be expendable). Theres a ton of names I left out because I don’t think theres any sort of realistic chance they’re available (Kent Johnson, Robert Thomas, Adrian Kempe, Roope Hintz etc). I didn’t include Crouse types because the criteria is guys who are already top 6 or who have potential to be top 6.

I mean it’s simple isn’t it. If a tendon is inflamed and you keep loading it, it’s not going to get better.
Reading about it and also having gone through something similar, you have to train muscle around it to take the load off so the tendon can return to normal and then you continue to build muscles to build strength around it.
Problem is if it’s mid season, how the hell can he build muscle to alleviate the load? We know NHL players lose muscle through the season because of how rigorous it is. If anything he was probably losing muscle while playing though the injury and actually adding more load to the tendon and making it even worse.

You think I would be surprised if the tendinitis is flaring up and they are masking it with anti-inflammatories/painkillers?

You would be wrong, to go along with your straw man
No, I don’t think you would be surprised…its more dramatic and nefarious, its more fun to have a villain and a hero when you’re creating a narrative.

And people questioned my associating Pettersson stans with the Benning lemmings.

The player, the doctors, the coach, the gm, the president. They are all wrong but that one interview back in March where Pettersson says he needs time off is all you need to spin this narrative.
You're seriously going to bat for the Canucks medical staff and their track record? Do you think they did a great job with Mikheyev?

Occam's razor. I don't believe that EP40, the coach, the GM, the president, the medical staff, are all wrong and are forcing a player to play over resting and becoming 100% for a late run and to allow him to play in this tournament aggravating this debilitating injury.
