Herbig has some TJ Watt in him rushing the Passer
I think he's a perfect compliment to round out Watt and Highsmith. If he's in there and rotates even on 20, 25% of the snaps this upcoming year it's a win for the steelers.

Where are you getting that he's only a special teamer?

The only useless brother is Derek Watt, the rest are + value.
The draft reports say that he’s too small and has short arms and won’t be able to set the edge and probably moves inside and is likely only a special teamer…Steelers also saying he will start on STs

Thats a very cherry picked draft report

UMMMMM sooo You have never seen him play & you are going on Golden Jock Sniffers in their Parents Basement

I mean this in a polite and fun way ofc but I would be more surprised if Andy wasn’t complaining about the Steelers draft

It’s been a terrific draft according to basically everyone I’ve read, even though there’s a ton of nepotism with the picks.

This was the CBS write up on their draft tracker and they gave the Steelers a C grade for the pick…

Nick Herbig EDGE, WISC

Height: 6-2, Weight: 240

Tiny, highly productive rusher with the full arsenal to generate pressure in college. Just major concerns about his length and size. Gets bullied a lot. Very similar to the Sutton Smith pick in 2019

I don't care for the pick and even I think that's excessive.

Yeah, he's not an Edge, although he should have useful pass rushing snaps. But he should be an okay ILB. He's probably not just special teams. He went at his consensus slot.

I wouldn't do it because I increasingly don't see the point of valuing everyday ILBs, but he's got as good a chance if not better to contribute than most of the picks around him.

And of course he'll start on STs. About the only guys picked in this range who don't use STs to get onto the team are big lumbering tackles who rarely work out either.

I find it odd to call a 6’2” and 240 lb guy “tiny” even in the context of an edge rusher.

Watt is only 6’4” and 250 lbs and Highsmith is 6’4” and 242 lbs.

Im very confused as to what you want in a late 4th round pick?

A guy who can be a day 1 rotational player base on athleticism and technique that has developmental upside and can be a core special teamer.

What exactly are you expecting at 132?

That's fine, for now. I can see that changing when they start putting him through his paces. He's going to be a linebacker, I think...not an MLB or OLB. He's super good in coverage. He would be a really good MLB because he obviously has the blitzing ability, but if he can cover...that's even better.

Yeah, I mean I want him to be a rotational player and not just a STer

He certainly produces.

Tied for the lead in the entire NCAA in sacks per game this year with 11. And did so playing on a top team in a major conference against top tier competition.

And this year is not a fluke. He has done it his entire career. He had 9 sacks in 2021.

I am not saying that he is perfect, but he was a player most had going earlier and produced his entire career. I would not count a guy like that out.

We really need someone who can spell Watt and Highsmith..just don’t think that’s him

Did you hear the linebackers coach? I just saw his press conference and that's exactly what they intend to do with him. They want him the rotate in with those guys once he learns the defense.
