I always thought Cowher was a dufus. He was lucky to get to his first Super Bowl (although they were beaten by a better team), and I thought he was outcoached in the Seattle game. However, I will say, his drafting was good (to the extent he was involved, one can debate), plus he seemed to be a great motivator.

I agree with you about Tomlin; he's not going anywhere for awhile. 8-8 is the new standard.

The Steelers are the Leafs of the NFL. They can keep being mediocre and it won't hit their pocketbook as hard as people think. There are long lines of people behind the season ticket holders. If you want to give up those tickets in protest, someone else will gladly snatch them up.

The Rooneys can afford to be stubborn and patient. Just how it is.

Based on what I have seen, he is even more incompetent with time management than Tomlin.

You really can't set the bar much lower. I am amazed at the number of teams, on a professional level, who can't manage a clock. At all.

Isn't that really saying the Rooneys put their egos above what's best for the team?

One more thing I wanted to add, has there ever been a defense as bad as creating turnovers as ours? It's pathetic. There's just no playmakers on our D.

I can't think of a more non-existent starter in my lifetime than Mike Mitchell. I honestly have a hard time believe that this clown even plays football, as I don't think I've ever seen him during a game.

On a different note, I really really really hope that TCU or Baylor makes the final cut for the football playoffs. Going to be an interesting championship weekend, and I think that a lot of people are sleeping on Arizona. Also hoping that Florida State loses.

Would love to see:

Alabama
Oregon
TCU
Baylor / Ohio State

Other football stuff: my beloved LA Galaxy advance on an arbitrary and utterly ridiculous rule, tying the Seattle Sounders 2-2 on aggregate (1-0 @ LA; 1-2 @ Seattle) but advancing on away goals, and will host next week's MLS Cup against the New England Revolution.

I suggest yinz all root for the Galaxy because a.) Landon Donovan's last game ever and b.) **** Boston sports.

As long as tOSU is in the final 4, I don't care who else is. ;) Seriously though, I really feel TCU is the 3rd best team in the country. Best loss by far and they have absolutely blown some teams out. Florida St... listen the ACC is by far the worst major conference. They have eeked by so many teams this year..they have a horeshoe lodged so far up their ***. I really don't feel like watching Oregon beat them by 3 touchdowns in the Rose Bowl. Ga Tech should give them a hell of a game though, they have been good all year and are really rolling right now. Bama will probably beat Mizzo by a few touchdowns so no hope there. Arizona has Oregon's number, I would love that because **** Oregon and all their flash. Gotta get OSU in there somehow!

Seattle is out? Only team I root for in the MLS. And for reason B, go LA. (and yea I've never understood away goals. Like wtf???)

So here is a perfect example of what I was talking about with Tomlin trying to sound smart:

He was asked:

Seven losses dating back to last season against teams with losing records and will you go back to see if there is any common thread?

Mike Tomlin: At the appropriate time, but right now we’re living in the moment. We’re trying to get ready for the games in the stadiums that we’re in. We’re singularly focused on this opportunity today. We’re going to get singularly focused on next week’s opportunity tomorrow.

He sounds like such a BS artist. You just gotta laugh I guess.

That's the best answer I've ever heard. That's like saying "Naaah I'm not worried about what we are doing wrong. I'm just living in the moment!"

How do you fix the problem if you choose to not identify one?

Make sure there's a picture of you on the internet with a smug look? That's what Bylsma did.

Anyways, I'm loathe to post anything Rossi writes, but there's something he wrote about the aftermath of yesterday's game that's worth noting:

http://triblive.com/sports/robrossi/7239624-74/steelers-roethlisberger-brown#axzz3KeT6peFD

Some scenes stick. Picture this one from inside the Steelers locker room at Heinz Field after their 35-32 loss to New Orleans on Sunday: Coach Mike Tomlin shaking his head and throwing his hands in the air while talking with Steelers chairman Dan Rooney, president Art Rooney II and general manager Kevin Colbert.

It's like watching Emmitt Smith on ESPN:

People have been asking me, “How do you beat these Patriots? They are an offensive astronaut.” Well, I think the problem is that teams are not syphilisly equipped to deal with New England’s team speed downfeel. That’s something that you cannot stimulate in practice. No matter how hard you might antipasto it. They are a very prophylactic offense that can masturbate the ball downfeel.

Football is so soft these days. Corey Smith just BLEW UP a wisky defender. Shoulder first. Nope, targeting. **** off refs. Football is forever ruined. Put flags on em please.

Did the same thing last week, no call. Either way it's 38-0 at half right now. :yo:

It's so hard for me to believe that the Buckeyes are doing this to Wisconsin, a legitimate team.

By the way, Devin Smith only catches deep ball touchdown passes.

Cardale Jones is a product of the Glenville Academic Campus, a "pipeline" school for Ohio State that has produced NFL players like Ted Ginn Jr., Troy Smith, and Donte Whitner. A full list of college players from the school can be found here. He's a 6'5", 249 pound redshirt sophomore and, as a three-star recruit, was the 12th-ranked pro-style quarterback in the 2011 recruiting class.

Any chance OSU can sneak in over TCU only because they are way more marketable?

I don't think it's fair, but college sports is known to be all about the money.

He throws the ball like a pro. Slow release, but accurate as hell.

Cardale Jones was the real deal in HS and got his chance tonight to prove it.

I got mine as well, I'll post it as well.

I think this will be the reason.

Opponent's records:

Ohio State: 84-60
TCU: 61-70
Baylor: 61-70

Their 3 best wins are more impressive than the other two as well. The big one being Michigan St who only lost to Oregon and Ohio State.

Sadly I think TCU deserves it man. TCU/Boise State have been screwed so much in the past. I just have a bad feeling (for college football) tomorrow comes down to money. Let's face it, OSU draws television and a lot of money. TCU doesn't. That's so disgusting for me to even say. As happy as I'd be for my Buckeyes, that just doesn't seem right.

But honestly I think 6 team playoff is always the best. 5 big conference (do we still have 5?) and 1 wildcard. #1/#2 get byes. It encompasses everything. Playoffs, keeps regular season important, makes championship games HUGE, protects the little schools, and keeps the regular season SOO important.

But hey.. 4 team is better than just #1/#2. So baby steps! But if tomorrow comes and money talks, then I have quite an issue with it. And that's coming from a Buckeye...

It's crazy, the team least desering is.. the 12-0 Florida st 4 leaf clovers. Never seen a team win every game and look awful doing it. The acc sucked and honestly they are 5 on my ballot, but obviously they are in. Unfortunately I think osu is on the outs. . Committee loves tcu too much to drop them.

Didn't see it posted here, but Ngata was hit with a four game suspension for PEDs.

Not exactly a big surprise.
