Wow did Carson Strong and Justyn Ross really go undrafted? Their medicals must be terrible.

Day 3 looks like a bit of a weird one. The WR looks like he’ll add a lot of speed to the offense which has been missing the last couple of years. The rest seem whatever.

I know 6th/7th round picks are whatever, but it'd be nice if they'd finished with an exciting faller or something that thinks maybe you get lucky and get a big hit. The sort of guy we never use, a small LB with only one year of being a LB, and a practice arm - not exactly the stuff of dreams.

Ah well, there's always undrafted guys to get overexcited about.

I really like the offseason, I love the draft. First 4 players could all play a huge role next year.

Ravens....>Smavens

If Pickett stars, the Steelers won the draft. There are no guarantees, but the Steelers did everything in their power to address the most important position in the sport. Kudos to a job very well done.

If they all flop, try again next year with the same strategy. But I think that won't be neccessary.

As far as day 3, every pick is an interesting prospect, no complaints from me.

Didn't he Snub Trubisky after the invite he got to workout with him this off-season?

He thinks he's like Brett Favre or something. Or it's that Clown mentality, thinks hes like really good but he's really not, just like Tomlin thinks he's special.
Clown mentality is not seeing how he has been f***ed and what not. Let's just leave it there mate. Move on.

Good post That's where im at too.. Unfortunately still, I think that these kids aren't in good hands under this coaching staff so all will turn out counterproductive. There is only so many times in a year you can tell someone to go out "and beat your man" week after week.

This is almost the exact equivalent to the Bylsma stretch pass. When things weren't working but we will continue to do the stretch pass.

Yeah it seems like we take star's brothers as long as they are H-backs.

I think Connor Heyward could carve out a niche for himself if he can really get in good shape. Practice squader more than likely.

The one thing that the Steelers did this weekend was get whatever QB wins the position some serious YAC targets in Pickens and Austin. With the improved line, it really is on the QB to play well.

Best case scenario is that Trubisky does well and we can flip him in the offseason, but at the same rate, if he does well, why would we want to trade him? This situation is why I was against drafting a QB at all. It's not like drafting Pickett is a serious upgrade on Trubisky. One could actually argue that Trubisky is a much more talented QB. It will be an interesting camp.

The Eagles had a phenomenal draft, IMO, and they picked up Carson Strong, who was probably the most talented passer in the draft. It would have been nice to bring in an arm like his to camp. I think the Ravens did the best of all of the teams. KC also really added to their team by trading Hill. Hill is a hard guy to replace, but they will be a really good team going forward.

It will be interesting to see where Justyn Ross goes. He has some real potential and hasn't signed yet. JoJo Doman is still out there too and I think he'd give Bob Spillane a run for his spot.

It was quite obvious the Steelers had one big goal in this draft - find playmakers on offense.

It feels like the Steelers have the pieces for a high octane offense now, but I’m not going to pretend I believe Canada can take advantage of the assets he now has.

I’ll wait and see, but his leash should be short.

I believe there is now a sea of potential on offense, and while I don’t expect the early 2000s Rams, I do expect an offense that holds its own.

I can’t believe how quickly one off season changed my hopes from dire to being enthusiastic about a new era of Steelers football.

NFL is funny like that though as hope can “spring” and later “fall”, but it would be a hell of a thing if Colbert’s final gift to the fans is a fun new era of Steelers football.

Improved to what though? I'd agree it looks better than it did, but it can still be quite a bit better and still be a problem.

Not entirely sure how quickly Pickens and Austin will be big contributors either.

I like the potential but it feels like it could easily be a pretty bad situation. Which arguably covers every position unit on the team other than Kicker...

Yeah the good thing is Canada has no excuses this year. If he implements his system and makes it happen… great. If not… he will be the clear common denominator and (hopefully) will be replaced.

To be fair Colbert gave him an excuse before the season saying that it would take 3 years to get the players Canada needs for his offense to work. He is technically entering year 1 of his offense

Warren was pretty good at okie st wasn’t he? Was a bit surprised we didn’t draft a rb. Is Benny Snell number 2 at the moment??
Love, love Warren....he was screwed over by OSU....they liked to roll 3 backs. Killed his draft, but benefits Steelers and him in the long run. Fresh body

He set records for futility, so ya I can’t imagine his leash is very long.

He was a rookie last year, so maybe he will actually evolve, unlike the HC.

That wasn’t is offense lol. That was the best of Haley Fitchner and what ever Ben was comfotble with. The only thing he added was sweeps and motion.
I do like the talk of Claypool moving to the slot more a lot more passes over the middle of the field. More play action and roll outs and having a QB who on 3-5 can get 5 yards with their feet to extend drives

Didn’t you ever question why Canada keeps moving around so much if he’s such a brilliant offensive mind?

Remember when he was college footballs highest paid OC at LSU?

Then halfway through the season Orgeron took away his play calling duties, then got rid of him and called the hiring a “mistake”.

Dude was completely out of football a couple years ago, ala Todd Haley.

Then his next chance to run an offense, he heads up a historically bad offense for the Steelers.

So let’s not act like there aren’t red flags following this guy around - and he’s had ZERO success at the NFL level to boot.

Exactly why should we feel good about him again?

Definitely red flags. He is an a hole to work for and doesn’t want anyone to touch his offense. He but heads with everyone there was problems finding him a QB coach and offensive assistant this past year.
Tomlin hired him because of the success of San Francisco and the Rams and the fact that mcvay started watching Canada offense at northern Illinois and using his concepts in the nfl.
