The hand thing is so brain dead. I worry about his ability to drive the ball with velocity and run a pocket. He can play skittish imo.

I do like his athleticism though.

I think a realistic good outcome is peak Alex Smith. Hoping for that.

Yeah that plus being reckless were my 2 biggest complaints of his while playing at Pitt. He seemed a bit too trigger happy to rush out of the pocket and try to run the ball, and he absolutely never shied away from contact.

I was young at the time so I don't fully remember, but I think I recall Ben having some issues with that early in his career too. Just not enough focus on preservation.

On the intermediate routes he can sling it pretty good. His deep ball is ok. You’re not going to be seeing these crazy Mahomes/Allen/Herbert throws though.

If you’re going to pick a QB in Rd 1 in particular he shouldn’t be a project who can’t read defenses and is inaccurate…at least Pickett can process info quickly and has decent accuracy

I think Derek Carr is like an 80-90% good outcome for Kenny.

I wanted them to not go QB, but once it got to 20 and he was still there my heart said "Kenny." Maybe it's dumb. I dunno. But it's going to be electrifying in Latrobe as Pickett and Trubisky battle it out. Pickett jersey sales are going to be ridiculous too lol

I dislike the position choice.

But of the quarterbacks I liked Pickett by far the best.

The NFL mindset has gone bananas focused on the wrong things and minimizing the most important things.

Hand size? Really?

The kid is smart, makes all the right reads, finds the open receiver quickly and releases the ball quickly. And can run. And has perfect size.

Brady is the same things and still does ok.

Mac Jones was the same player.

He will at worst be an average quarterback in the league. At best he can be elite.

It was not the worst pick or a major reach.

He rates a small bit lower on most boards. I personally had him a bit higher than most only because I completely disagree with the current mindset when it comes to quarterbacks.

The NFL is a league of morons. The large number of teams that NEED a QB and scoffed at the best QB in the draft is laughable and obtuse.

Look at next year's class, make the argument that any of them are better than Pickett...........I hear that, I don't actually see that.

People actually had Willis above Pickett............it's like they have never watched the sport. If your favorite media guy mentioned willis, you should never read them ever again. Their opinion is a turd.......soft and messy.

Great night for the Black and Gold. There are no guarantees, but we are back in play!!

We literally have a 4 year sample size of Pickett playing well in the Pittsburgh climate, but yes keep knocking him for his "tiny hands".

I care about whether he can throw a ball accurately and how he'd be a QB. Any shit like hand size or wonderlick scores is completely irrelevant.
Baby hands hasn't played any games in December or January in Pittsburgh. In fact, he's only played once in Pittsburgh the last week in November. Baby Hands is a total unknown to playing in adverse weather.

This was a best case scenario. Just sat there and waited for him to fall and gave up zero assets but a late first.

If he busts, whatever.

This isn’t like 9ers taking Smith at 1 or Bears takin Trubisky at 2. It doesn’t devastate your franchise for years missing on a QB at 20.

No one else was going QB in the first. They could have traded back to the end of the round or into the second and still got Pickett. I get you want to take your chance when it’s presented but just from a pure pick management perspective it feels like a missed opportunity.

We'll find out. It's not an exact science. But now you have 2 options for you qb of the future. Maybe they both bomb, but you have legit options. If Trubisky stars, you trade Pickett.

YOU HAVE TO GET A QB...........and the Steelers just got the best QB at 20............and people are bitching.........

People are too swayed by a ignorant media. If that same media had hyped KP, he would have gone earlier and the very same people complaining would be crying about not trading up.

GREAT night for the Steelers.
