I’d send a 6th to the Eagles for Minshew if they’ll take it.

Cut: Banner, Shobert

Let walk: Chuks, Edmunds, Ebron, Turner, Haden, Washington

Re-sign: Witherspoon, McCloud

On the fence: Juju, Spillane

FA priorities:
#1 CB
ILB upgrade
SS upgrade
C upgrade

Draft priorities:
OT
DT/NT
OG
WR (pending Juju)

Like it.... really like Minshew

I'd try to keep Washington now that Ben is gone. I'd try to get Haden re-signed. I'd even consider bringing back Schobert. Our MLB depth is so bad.

Are we lowering our standards to Minshew?

It’s a pretty sad thing to witness, but I think many Steeler fans want to find some type of lipstick for the pig.

The org lives in their own delusions of who they believe they are - they failed to plan ahead to find a legit starter for the future - despite all the obvious red flags.

Instead they foolishly talked themselves into going all-in, believing they were SB contenders the last few years.

I just want to watch some competitive football while we wait to draft the next guy. That’ll be bandaids, but we knew this already. It’ll take years to get another Ben, IMO. Teams have won it all without a true all star QB, but the rest of the team needs to be rock solid. Foles is probably the most recent example.

I dunno if we can pull that off, I just feel like that’ll be what we need to hope for, for the foreseeable future.

I'd rather just start Rudoph or sign Trubisky or Winston etc than spend a pick on another question mark.

I wouldn't have a problem with throwing a low end pick for Jimmy G, Cousins or Wentz. All of them have contracts that the team would be only on the hook for this next season.

They will need some dumb luck also to find their next guy.

Some teams will have to make absolutely idiotic decisions like Cleveland and Atl in ‘04.

I'd say for the most part it is dumb luck, even if you are drafting in the top 5.
We have Washington’s “franchise” guy on our roster right now as an example. I know he was pick 15, but they had huge hopes for him.

Yep. You need to get it right no matter where you draft. Although a top five pick does give you a better chance of drafting the next Joey Harrington, Heath Shuler or Rick Mirer.

You need way less dumb luck picking that high than you do outside the top 10 and hoping teams go Cleveland.

And your owner has a brain and doesn’t do a Cleveland.

I would rather the build out the team. If they can manage to do that around a guy like Rudolph, Minshew, Trubisky, Haskins or any other guy, when the team is built out, make a Stafford-type trade. Trade a 1st rounder or two to land a guy who can take the team to the next level. But regardless of who the QB is right now, they will be running for their lives. It's not an environment conduce to an older guy or a rookie. We have to fix the line.

I was just flipping around in the gym the other day and before the final drive Ben's stats popped up and it sorta shocked me. At the time just 1 INT. I was pretty sure he was dominant in that game and I was just way wrong. Then just for fun I looked up his stats in all 3 games and never realized how meh he was in Superbowls

This isn't saying he's a bad QB or anything. I was just sorta shocked. Thought i'd bring it up for fun because I don't think we need a dominant QB to be a solid team. We just need a coach who isn't f***ing awful and a well rounded team. We have a game-changing defender. So we don't need a superstar at QB.

SB against Seattle: 9-21 / 123 yards / 2 INT
SB against Arizona: 21-30 / 256 yards / 1 TD / 1 INT
SB against GB: 25-40 / 263 yards / 2 TD / 2 INT

I don’t look too much at that first SB. He was still a game manager. The AFC championship just before that game he was awesome in, though. 21 of 29, 3 total TDs and 0 picks.

AZ SB he easily could have been MVP. The plays and throws he made on that last drive were insane. He actually dropped a perfect pass in on Holmes that Holmes dropped, just before that awesome corner end zone catch.

At no time in that super bowl could he have been mvp up until that drive Ben was at 180 yards and 1 interception they had blown a 20-7 lead. It was going to be Harrison or Holmes.

Except taking on those hits kill your available cap space. If Jimmy or Carson were free agents no way would they get 24 or 27 million with their injury history. Jimmy has 4 tds and 6 interceptions less than 1000 yards passing in 7 playoff games Goff numbers are better he has more interceptions than tds this post season

Harrison is a good call.

Holmes won it based on one drive. Just saying Ben could have easily done the same.

Correct, they would get more guaranteed money and their cap hits would extend into future seasons.

Wentz played all 17 games this past season. The previous season he would have played all the games but was benched for Hurts. And he played in all 16 games in 2019. Thus in the past three seasons he has played in or was available for every game his team played. Thus his "injury history" is 4 years ago.

Jimmy G's injury history is just that, he has had injuries. I don't believe NFL teams consider injuries like he has had, ACL or high ankle sprain as injuries that will affect his play. Aka, it's not like you can forecast them as, that is why he will not play well in the future. Unlike Ben and his throwing elbow.

When the top of the line elite QBs are getting 40-45 mil a season, then mediocre QBs like Jimmy G and Wentz are going to make 25-30 mil. It's just the way it is.
