OT: The Pittsburgher Thread: Post Draft - Still dont need no QB

For our sake I hope CA3 or Wilson can develop into the WR2, but who knows. Realistically Muth is the 2nd option in the passing attack.
Neither guy is an outside Wr. They will use Woods Davis and Ben as the blocking Wr and get more of floor than Jefferson provided but still sol if DK gets hurt

Yeah, count me among those that was never really blown away by Gabe Davis. That game we got our shit pushed in by Buffalo 38-3 in 2022 was his best career game.

Yeah I don’t think Gabe Davis is all that great, but he’ll cost nothing and beggars can’t be choosers at this point.

I didn’t realize he was only 26 either. Feels like he’s been around forever.

I have to say I've read a decent amount of scorn from Buffalo fans re Gabe Davis. A fair amount of "wow Josh Allen can play turnover free football without Gabe Davis, who knew". Their usage of him tells a fair amount of its own story - demoting him from target number 2 to target number 3 in 2023, then letting him walk for 3 x 13m at a time they were also getting rid of their WR1. He reads more as a decent guy who was there at the right time to put up big numbers in a good offence than a good guy who was an integral part of a good offence. He crashed and burned at the Jags on a team that, while not friendly to its WRs, made every other WR get much better numbers.

He also reads as pretty much entirely deep threat, which is kinda oil to Texas with the Steelers.

But hey, decent guy, beggars can't be choosers... but on a team going nowhere with young guys who might be more? I won't be upset if they don't bring him in and pile it on the kids.

My thought is, it will be Gabe Davis vs Robert Woods. Whoever looks the best in camp, keeps the spot and the other is cut.

My guess is that Davis wants a guarantee of a roster spot and nobody is willing to give it to him. Once he finds out nobody is willing to just give him a spot he will have to decide who he thinks gives him the best chance.

That was his career year. Muth had 7 tds and 500 yards.
That's a non-answer.

You just arbitrarily picked numbers that you knew Davis hasn't reached before because you're still butt hurt they traded Pickens.

900 yards and/or 9 TDs out of your WR2 is setting unrealistic expectations so you can bitch and moan. Only 32 guys reached 900 yards last year. Only 12 guys reached 9 TDs.

As long as they don’t try and say this is the replacement for GP fine

I didn't move the goalposts. I'm saying that commenting on an athlete's mental state/diagosing them is in extremely poor taste. If you are a psychiatrist, then maybe I'll give you some grace there. But as my wife says (she's a therapist) "unless you're in this field, it's a slap in the face to all the professionals when all the laypeople hear these mental health terms that have gone mainstream in the past 5-7 years. Everyone is 'toxic' or is 'on the spectrum'. No one has any idea the time and effort and process it takes to reach an official diagnosis. So everyone who isn't qualified should sit the f*** down"

So yea I'm pretty sensitive about this kind of thing. It's akin to me saying you're a stalker bc you keep quoting my posts. Is that entirely fair?

If I squint I can kinda see your Pyrrhic victory comment, but I'm confused. I'm not fighting any battle. Merely pointing out that according to some a person can NEVER change and they'll forever be judged on their worst moments. Not sure that's fair either.
Respectfully, this all spun out after you conflated two pretty simple, yet distinctly different words (traits vs instances). Then you started changing the argument to fit your paradigm - while not acknowledging that you were doing the same thing that you accused others of (recency bias of one trait or instance).

And who is providing any DSM-5 level diagnosis? It’s well within my purview to be able to assess someone’s personality or psychological traits based on their (public) actions or words. I have to do this for work as a manager all the time. Is the expectation that I subcontract that assessment out to a licensed psychologist or psychiatrist and prove it beyond a reasonable doubt to a court of law?! Horsefeathers, I say.

Honestly I don't even care if they trade for Smith at this point, the cost is going to be basically nothing and he's a quality TE. They can definitely come up with schemes with Smith and Freiermuth as TE receiving options, so I don't really have too much of an issue.

If you're running a bunch of 2 WR and 2 TE sets, I guess you don't need a legit WR2 and 2 good receiving TEs is worth having.
