But the Texans did spend capital on that defense they have a top 10 pick at cb and a 2nd round cb 2 stud pass rushers and 2nd round safety they couldn’t cover KeleceIt should be most eye-opening to Tomlin that Houston was able to contain Kansas City's offense. That's right, you don't need to spend unbelievable amounts of capital if you actually scheme a defense.
The more I think about it, the more I think that Tomlin's lack of defensive acumen (a DB coach and 1-year DC 20 years ago?) but refusal to delegate or become a cheerleader HC like Campbell is his biggest flaw. Smith is not a terrible OC objectively and we can't fully judge offense until they have adequate personnel - they simply were deficient at way too many positions last year.
The fact that Teryl Austin is coming back is a disgrace. It means Tomlin is again the de-facto DC which means playoff teams will score on us at will. Like Baltimore could have scored 40+ if they needed to last week.
They can draft a QB next season…preferably high in the first round…One thing that is painfully apparent. Having a mobile or dual threat QB is now the norm.
One more reason to go with Fields over Wilson.Build an offense around him and see how it goes. Draft a guy as well this year.

Lamar did everything there. Andrews failed. That's absolutely f***ing brutal for Baltimore lmao. Mark Andrews![]()
Do wait till the draft to get a wr sign one in fa. I still think they keep Gp and draft defensive playersWilson once was a dual threat QB. No more.
Fields still has a right-tail outcome as a good QB in this league. It probably won't happen but he will come more cheaply than Wilson and retains potential. Fields + a decent backup + a 5th/6th rounder is the only correct answer this off-season. Spend draft capital on WR. Trade Pickens and get more draft capital. Etc.
Henry had 16 carries 85 yards that’s usually a loss for Bmore this seasonI am still so puzzled that Pittsburgh's defence couldn't bring a hammer to Baltimore up front and force Jackson to throw and still see how their nerve held like Buffalo did. But oh well.
Would be great if this is the year Buffalo can finally get over their Kansas hump.
Probably because the offense is so bad, the defense has to be on the field. For like 35 minutes of time out of a 180 minute game, which doesn't make any sense but it's repeated enough so it must be the truth I suppose.I am still so puzzled that Pittsburgh's defence couldn't bring a hammer to Baltimore up front and force Jackson to throw and still see how their nerve held like Buffalo did. It usually takes 3 years for a nfl o line men to develop. If he busts ok move Troy to LT and put Washington at RT. They have year 3 and 4 to decide on his 5th year option. He still is going to have to invest in himself to get better in the off season.

Thank god the Ravens lost again…good job Buffalo

Standard year in the Mike Tomlin Paper Tiger defense.
I completely agree.I will bite on the sarcasm and point out that the Ravens did a 13 play, 2 pass attempt, near 8 minute drive on their very first one of the game against the Steelers, largely because they kept running after Henry and gave Jackson a bunch of runs for free.
Moore was the better LT he had been starting at LT for 3 years Jones had a bad camp playing both spots and was injured. He would have sat the bench if Troy was healthy to start the season. I am sure after the bye he would have taken LT over from moore if Troy was healthy. Moore was playing fairly well to start the seasonI have no idea what logic you are following TBTH.
Tell me one positive thing that was gained the last two seasons by playing Moore at LT over Jones.
Every single verifiable fact points to it being a catastrophic decision from Tomlin.

Every loss this season Henry didn’t get 20 carries or 85 yards. It was coaching malpractice to go get Henry after the kc playoff loss and change what your team does wellyeah, i'm shocked Mcdermott came up with a better defensive plan than the coach who faces twice every year.
NOT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don’t forget early on before his injury, they were swapping Fautanu and Jones out at RT… a move even Jones called out as ridiculous.
Hey let’s move you from your natural position even though you said you aren’t comfortable on the right side, and make you swap out every series to make it even more mind numbingly dumb!
This is how f***ing stupid Tomlin is - risking f***ing up the development of his two prized first round tackles for - the worst starting LT in the league.
What could go wrong - besides ending the season with the worst tackle combo in the league.
Another Tomlin debacle where he thinks he knows better than everyone else.
If you told this to a casual fan of the game, they would think you were making it up, because a professional coach can’t be this dumb.
But here we are.
The only position he develops well is WR, and even that comes with a massive poison pill because he allows their egos to get out of control… every single time.
I thought he looked really good at RT, which begs the question why he was oddly being rotated with Jones?
Why wasn’t Fautanu the full time starter at RT and slide Jones to LT, and make the guy who graded out in 2023 as the second worst pass blocker, the backup?
Keeping Moore as the starting LT ended in him being the worst LT in the league - by far - and Jones kept floundering at a position he keeps trying to tell us he struggles with.
But hindsight is 20/20 I guess.
Who would ever expect the second worst pass blocking LT in 2023 to give up the most sacks in 2024?
You would need a magic 8 ball or some shit to see that coming, right?
My memory of the situation is that both Jones and Fautanu were pretty much straight LTs in college. Jones was a raw LT with freak athleticism, Fautanu a LT who didn't have prototypical height but everything else (also playing with Penix had people going 'but he wasn't protecting the blindside')
ravens start feeding henry the ball and look unstoppable on offense again
