Comparing their rookie years, Dobbs looked better.
Yep, 6-12 for 43yds 0/1 TD/INT. Superstar in the making.

Tomlin is still under contract though... so how does he leave in the offseason without breaching that contract?
You keep using words like COULD and UPSIDE. As if they mean anything in this context.Chik shouldn't be on the team right now and probably gets released in off-season. Mata has been average. Thomas could have been better/cheaper at specials and has way more upside than Mata.
Honestly, I don't think any coaching changes will happen this off-season. Tomlin has a great situation here. We have arguably the best GM in the league that always provides great talent.By being compensated by Snyder.
If Tomlin really wants to leave, I don’t think Rooney will stand in his way.
He will expect Snyder to give him something for letting Tomlin out of his deal, however.
Only a fool would let him leave for nothing.

Tomlin has won everything there is to win, and never had a losing season. Players thrive under him. And this season could be his best coaching season in recent memory considering the lack of offense. The team is always successful under him. Sure he has some downfalls, but the chances of replacing him with someone that would be as successful is unlikely.
While I'm not against replacing Tomlin, if I was the owner I would definitely keep him until the team is no longer competitive with him in charge.
I think many fans take his accomplishments for granted. Just look at all the "hot" coaches. Payton, McVay, Reid, Harbaugh, Carroll. None of them even come close to be as consistent or successful as Tomlin.
No, Tomlin will never beat the Patriots in the playoffs. But honestly, no one else does either.
If Tomlin wants full control of everything and probably the biggest deal for a coach in NFL history, Snyder will give it to him.
That will be hard to pass up I would imagine, especially with a guaranteed contract. However, he knows he won’t ever be questioned or held accountable in Pgh... so way less stress, but less money to.
No one can know what he will do, even him, at this point IMHO.
I am pretty sure Tomlin will be back, but unless Brady leaves, I won’t have any SB dreams.
Brady will be a Charger next season
I can live with that.
Is that a dream of yours or have there been rumors?
I'm actually pretty torn about it... La Canfora put out a piece earlier in the season about how the Chargers are the team that intrigues Brady the most if he decides to leave so there has been some legit speculation on it... it makes sense on certain levels if you think about it though... Brady wanting to win on his own, not to mention even at 42 or 43 he would still be a guy that attracts fans to a team that is definitely lacking a fanbase and he would help put butts in the seats of that fancy new stadium they are moving into next season... but I'm really torn on if I want to see him play for the Chargers to be honest
Well this goes without saying from my perspective... Brady gives them a way better shot than Rivers ever will.
Why would you object to him being a Charger, aside from the *****ey attitude and being a cheater?
Speaking of the Chargers, how much will Gordon get paid in the off season? We haven’t had a legitimate running back in 2 years, but I guess we won’t have the cap space to sign him.
I don't think that is just from your perspective.... Tom Brady is obviously better and would give them a better chance then Rivers.... but with that being said I love Philip Rivers and watching him leave and then having the Chargers win a Championship immediately following his departure would suck (don't get me wrong I want them to win a Super Bowl, but I want Rivers to be the guy who does it) because I feel like the narrative would just be 'see Rivers was holding them back this whole time" and "clearly he was the main reason they could never get over the hump" and that just isn't true... I know he has a reputation for being bad when it counts, but I don't believe for a minute that he is the sole reason the Chargers could never get over the hump.
Rivers is such an unlikable *****e bag, but I guess so are Brady and Roth.
In the end does it matter which *****e bag it is, as long as your team wins the SB?
Guys can be *******s but good team players and teammates. Roth and Hines Ward are two perfect examples.
Being an NFL fan means making a lot of concessions and rooting for a lot of unlikable guys.
I made my peace with it long ago, but if guys are selfish cancers like Bell and Brown... that is my line in the sand.
Gordon didn't exactly light it up this year. Will be interesting to see how his negotiations go.
I just want the guy to win a ring... I watched him play the undefeated Patriots in the AFC title game on a torn ACL and he kept the Chargers hanging around in that game... Ultimately I know that isn't the goal, but he just has that kind of toughness factor to him that makes me like him
He warmed up after his first 3 or so games back... but I definitely think he won't get what he wants... I am thinking he gets $10 or $11 million

Yes, Thomas COULD be in the NFL, if he was good at football. Just like Derick Pouliot COULD have been the best player in his draft if he was good. Upside is nothing when you're comparing in the present reality. Paxton Lynch was a 1st round pick recently and had great UPSIDE. Does that mean he needs to be playing over Rudolph and Duck? No. Because he proved that he isn't good enough. In this case, Thomas proved he can't even do special teams, let alone defensive snaps.
Why would we prioritize RB over OL? I just never get this.
Find a retread RB for cheap, draft one in round 5-7 or so and let them battle it out with the guys already there. Whyte in particular looks promising. Snell somewhat too. If Conner's healthy he still ought to be in the mix. Focus assets on positions that actually matter.
Chik shouldn't be on the team right now. How they covered that up is wild.
Jesus, again with the pre-season ****.
Funny that Dobbs got out performed by Rudolph in that phase of the season ...
Am I suppose to judge Dobbs on the regular season when he never sees the field because of Ben? That was Dobbs in preseason rookie year. He looked a lot better than LJ at that point. Rudolph isn't even in the picture. Next year, Dobbs looked better than Rudolph so they let Landry Jones go. Then this year in preseason Rudolph looked slightly better. Not worthy of throwing the guy away for a bag of footballs.
