OT: The Pittsburgher Thread: Kansas City Swifts vs Philly Eagles

The reasons listed above of why the Steelers could move on from Najee Harris, a glut of talented RBs in the draft, the perception of his flaws, are a reason he might be back.

He might not get the money he is expecting on the open market.

Here's the thing. I could kinda get bringing Harris back if he was real cheap and the logic was ploughing resources into everything else, but when there's reports suggesting a deal in the 7-10m region? That he'll get the money he expects on the open market, just the Steelers will match to bring him back?

If that comes true, that makes no damn sense.

I don't see any market for Najee Harris at 3 years, $25m or so. If it happens I would be fascinated.

Truly the only rationale for bringing back both Harris and Warren is to spend zero draft capital at RB this year.

I'm not necessarily expecting it, but it wouldn't surprise me. It's basically some team wanting David Montgomery on David Montgomery money and deciding he's the best version available.

I'd much rather spend a rookie contract and most likely get the same production. Then spend the saved capital on an aging DL or subpar WR corp or... whatever in ufa.

Montgomery Hubbard Mixon Connor Stevenson all got 8 million or more this season. Swift got 8 million
Warren again could just get 2/6 million they paid Patterson

Koreza said they have to spend 80 million and new money this season and next. We will probably bring in a free agent on the watt threshold and queen threshold. He said he thinks they dump larry and Lowry sign a free agent Dl and draft 2

See, this is why I'd rather sign an experienced RB, and use the draft capital on a hopefully more impactful DL or WR.

Oh don't get me wrong. I still want DL 1st round if one is available and WR round 2 or 3 if there'sa good CB in 2. I just think there's quality RBs to be had in rounds 3 through 5.
I just feel you can/should strengthen your depth in your weakest positions before the draft. Gives more flexibility. And we all know, picks don't always work out.

Most reports say rb and dl are deep cb and wr in the draft aren’t deep
Hopefully they address some issues with the roster in free agency before the draft

what are you calling middle of the field?
muth's TD was inside the numbers.
austin's td in the MOF

take away the dump off and screen, and there's reception spread out. more to the right, but you act like there were no throws in the MOF

but that's not even the point. the point is why in the hell did the head coach choose to handcuff the playbook when they scored 37 points in the first match up at cincy. how many times did we see a naj toss for no gain?
why did the coach, in the post game presser, say he wanted to limit the risk on offense and try to "muddle up the game"

do you have an answer for that?
Just look ar his next gen stats they don’t lie. Then watch the all 22 and see teams literally playing basic cover 6 and rotate late post snap to confuse RW by taking read 1 away. Multiple times the bengals jumped the dump of game 2 early leaving GP or Austin wide open

agreed
if they want a bigger type back I saw that AJ dillon is a free agent. only signed for $2.5M last year but hurt his knee and missed the season.
i don't see much dancing in the backfield with him

He respected the bengals offense and wanted to get the game to the 4th qt with a chance to win and that exactly what happened
Go back in watch the first 3 qt of the bengals game RW completed 8 passes total. He attempted 20 but some didn’t count because of defensive penalties. He had less than 40 yards passing heading to the 4th Quarter. They called plays to get guys open but RW didn’t take it. He was playing terrible just like the kc and ravens game.

More of a dynasty/fantasy football focus, but there's some good prospect models that are relevant to this RB and WR convo.

Uses experience-adjusted production, efficiency, & projected draft capital. More explanation in this thread. Highest hit rates on the 80th percentile and above prospects.

I both agree and disagree with this. I like the team giving itself flexibility but at the same time, winning in the NFL eventually means gambling and getting it right. Targeting quality guys and gambling you can patch the other holes rather than getting mediocre all around.

Not that Harris at full whack is a great example of quality.

Yeah I keep looking at him.

I didn't even see what the penalty call on the Chiefs was there, but hey it makes up for the terrible first call.

I hope the Eagles just stomp the Chiefs today.
