The U shaped offense returns

So again, I ask: "What is different from Fitchner and Canada?"

No intermediate throws across the middle at all (again) . I think Ben is missing those easy throws but I also think he doesn't think they'll be there bc the LB's are clogging the middle bc no one fears our run game.
You only have to send 4 if you're a DC bc this Oline leaks pressure all damn game.
Ben has a QBR of 38 with a clean pocket and no rush.

He knew his offense was not scoring any way especially if they had to drive the field. You hope for a turn over and shorter field

Choice A: ask your defense to get 2 stops
Choice B: ask your defense to get 1 stop

Irrespective of what the offense does or doesn't do (convert or are stopped at that moment/further in the drive), is a moot point. Your defense is coming onto the field and must get a quick stop.

Which is more likely given the fact they didn't stop LV once in the 2nd half?
Which is more likely given the defense was down 5 starters?

Time is also a factor bc this pop gun offense needs all the seconds it can get. So giving up the ball means you concede time.

This isn't rocket science, yet NFL coaches continually choose less than optimal scenarios. Tomlin is an Exhibit A moron in this regard

Oh I'm not absolving Ben of blame here. I do see guys open and he opts for the big play down the sideline over checkdowns.
Ben hasn't been good, but I believe this is truly the offense Tomlin/Art2 wants. It's been here for years.

It’s time for everyone to open their eyes. We’ve seen OC after OC come and go…the offense remains the same.
Attrition football, get to third down, possess the ball, control the clock. Those words come out of Cool Shades mouth every week. This is the type of offense Mike Tomlin wants, and most importantly, it’s the type of offense A2 wants.
The OC is insignificant.

Yes Ben has Ben the oc since he got Hayley fired. He does whatever he wants last year against the colts he went rouge and called his own plays apparently but this season they don’t have a 2 minute offense. Ben hates play action they rarely gave under center and call sweeps pre snap motion doesn’t help Ben cause he can’t read defenses. To say this offense AR2 wants is hilarious he said fix the running game they drafted a running back and they give it to him 12. Ben has the most passing attempts since bell left. Ben will never accept a game manager rule

I really don’t think this is the offense they want. When your offensive line is in the state it is and your QB is in the state he is, you’re just so limited as to what type of offense you can run.

I think I saw a stat that Oakland had 18 pressures and Ben’s release time was 2.5 seconds. What can you realistically do other than this short passing game?

This offense was here about 4 years ago. Hell even when we had the Killer B's and a great Oline they'd try to shorten the game and play ball control. The optimum strategy when they nearly had the best offense in football was to try and outscore the other teams and up tempo it.

Now what they're trying to do is the correct strategy: eat clock and rest their good defense. But the way they're going about playcalling is the exact same way...it's maddening and myopic

I can’t really say I remember the 2018 offense all that well but it was ranked pretty highly and Ben threw for 5,000 yards. 2019 they were working with the literal two worst starting QBs in the league. And then last year, the issues with Ben and the line truly started.

It’s weird they aren’t attacking the middle of the field at all this year. Whether that’s a play calling issue or a Ben issue or a line issue I don’t know.

Just watched the SNF game... HAHHHHHH!!!!
The entire past-the-50-drive I was thinking, just don't fumble just don't interception... win the game.... SIMPLE...
Dood goes and fumbles... muhahahaha... I love watching mahomey lose but I hate watching jackson win just the same... so that was a draw.

On to the MNF game...

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Ben Roethlisberger has a pectoral injury.
Roethlisberger took a couple mammoth shots in the team's Week 2 loss to Vegas. Tomlin said the pec issue will affect Roethlisberger's practice participation head of Pittsburgh's Week 3 matchup against the Bengals. "We'd better be ready to be adjustable," Tomlin said. The always-dramatic Roethlisberger, 39, might miss practice all week and could still suit up against the Bengals. If he can't, Mason Rudolph would get the start. It's hard to say Rudolph would be a marked downgrade for the Steelers' struggling offense.

Funny how Harbaugh went for it on 4th down while our coach lives in his fears, while outward proclaiming he doesn't

What are you gonna do when Ben is gone and the Steelers suck even more then they currently do? Because your schtick is going to be done at that point

Roth is definitely washed, but there are so many worse options out there (and I wish they were starting for a number of reasons).

My dream is for the Yinzers to have their man Haskins start - then a 4-5 win season will actually happen and they can draft high enough to find their next guy - and the bonus is Yinzers will have to eat shit and admit a washed Roth is still their best option.

Win-win.

Told you phantom injury leads to him going on Ir til the bye. Let’s Mason actually run Canada offense and work with the young o line. Build the confidence and then Ben comes back after the bye

I wanted that to happen this season Mason and Haskins finish 7-10 then draft QB in round 1. The defense with an offense that can score 24 points a game will not lose enough games to be in the top 10

Well, we do finally agree on something. Roth coming back was so silly and pointless.

Roth probably won’t make it through the season the way he’s getting beat up, so I guess there is always hope.
