I don’t think I’ll ever understand QB decisions from NFL teams. They’re a better team with Flacco, but there’s a ceiling with a Flacco led team and it’s not a Super Bowl.

Drafting Richardson as high as they did was always a bizarre move, but if you’re gonna do it don’t be surprised that the super raw, inexperienced QB is raw and inexperienced.

Richardson was always a Raw qb prospect with less college starts than Lance. The team thinks they are a playoff team with Flacco and letting Richardson watch like Fields

I may be misremembering this, but wasn't there something with Harris running better with Rudolph last year because Rudolph was under C more than Pickett/Trubisky? And I think Russ is under C more than Fields was.

I definitely think the Jets and Giants just kinda suck, but maybe something to keep an eye on as we start to see them against better teams.

Searching here for Harris and shotgun only got this which was pre-Rudolph - the mention of playing under Centre was that increasing passing from under Centre helped the team run better (along with more runs from shotgun, less use of 12). But it's quite possible that occurred too. I expect there's a bunch of stats on it that all add up to the same thing -

The less obvious it is that the team is going to use Harris, the better he is.

I'm not sold on Harris at all. His last few games have involved the other team flat out quitting in the 2nd half and last night was a defense that sucks against the run.

People are only pimping Harris bc he looks MUCH better than he had been. And even his "much better" results put him into the average NFL back category.

He's functional like the tires on my car. He's just there. While Warren is coming back from injury, I'm positive he could do just as well with the same opportunities. You do not commit cap space on this type of player. The value just isn't there unless you have an All Pro back like CMC or Kamara
I've been pretty critical of Najee through his first few years as he's never graded out as anything better than mediocre. But this year has been different, especially the efficiency metrics. 6.7m is like less than 3% of the cap and roughly RB14 in terms of AAV. That would not have been bad value for what Harris brings.

I think that DJ trade supports that getting someone like Slayton shouldn’t cost more than a 4th or 5th

Could be trade posturing but I don't like the sound of this lol

To me the best comparison for Harris is Montgomery. Similar builds, similar styles, similar speed.

Montgomery's four years in Chicago had a 3.9 Y/A. Then he went to Detroit and suddenly he's rushing for 4.6 Y/A and his successful run% climbed by about 10%.

Being the big, angry, between the tackles power back is tough on a bad offence because teams can just come for you. That doesn't mean the talent to punish teams on a good team isn't there though.

See also Henry being reduced to a mere 4.2 Y/A (well, mere for him) on last year's shambles at the Titans and now frolicking around like a newborn lamb at the Ravens.

Yeah, the teams Harris has just played are bad, but this is also one of the few times he's got to play on a good offence. If mitigation is to apply for not overrating his last three games, then mitigation should be applied for not underrating his last three years.

I was going to say more durable James Conner but Monty works too.

Conner 3 x $7m
Montgomery 2 x $9.1 (previously a 3 x $6m)

From Twitter lol

Hang on....

The Panthers gave up Dionte Jackson and moved back 62 spots in the draft to get DJ in the offseason.
Then, they send DJ to Baltimore for a swap of 5th and 6th round picks, which will probably end up being around 20 spots.

So they essentially gave up a starting CB & moved back a round in the draft in order to get 30 catches from a WR.

That is some next level GM work.

I'd prefer Slayton, but Williams would be a DECENT PLAN B. I also think Slayton would fit the Steelers well at a reasonable cost.
yeah i didnt know Slayton was on the trade block until they mentioned it last night. he's good, lets get him

Work out Conner's cap percentage and translate his deal to this season and it'd be 8.6m. Go with Sportrac's estimate of 273m for next season's cap - when Monty's contract kicks in - and it's 9.2m. Feels like it might be easy to guess what Harris' next deal might be if he sustains this

Dude was pretty impressive last night but not a guy I'd overpay for.

At this point I'm okay with a modest overpay for a Slayton level WR so that if it turns out this is a special season from Wilson, there's a WR room that can take advantage of it.

edit: Apparently Tony Pauline thinks it's 50-50 that Sutton gets traded.

They turned down a 3rd before the season for Sutton not sure they move him now when they can make a playoff run but they do have some younger wr that need reps
DJ going for a pick swap means your looking at a 5th for slayton

Except the Giants said they're not doing it unless they're blown away. What's blown away for Slayton? Doubt it's a 5th.

We know that the 49ers offered a 3rd for Sutton and they turned it down, but I wonder if you could go back to them with that offer now that their season is totally wasted. I think it's different to do that before the season versus at the deadline when you're like 2-6.

I'd say a 4th for Meyer/Slayton or a 3rd for Sutton would be my hope.

Of course they want blown away he is Jones biggest defender in the room. Hyatt couldn’t even see the field Robbinson does not see many targets and Nabers is still the wr 1

Denver are 5-3 though. They're on the Bollercoaster.

I think it is painfully obvious that any QB coming out of college should not leave college until after their junior years. Anyone who comes out earlier is always insanely raw and unready.

That's not a "the NFL doesn't develop QBs" problem, it's "QBs are leaving college too early to get money" problem.
