There's a thread about him on the prospect board. It was started in 2006, when the guy was like 6. And now he signed an ELC contract.
Pretty incredible.
Halak plays 30-40 games per year, there's no way he does this here with Price signed for a billion bucks.Good deal for both.
And we couldn't afford that?
He was the KHL's top scoring defenseman with 49 pts in 60 GP.
Halak with the hometown discount. He could have easily gotten 4m.
The advantage of being a contender I guess...

Regarding Mikko Lehtonen, as it's been rumored that the Devils may be the team to land him, there have been some that have mentioned the Habs, as well. Obviously nothing credible so I don't think it's enough to post it.
But another thing I saw on Twitter, some people mention that Lehtonen has appararently followed the Rangers on IG, as well as some players from NYR. We know we can't hang our hats on that as confirmation. And I am going by what some random people tweeted. But maybe it gives a slight idea on who may land him.
Edit: I just checked his IG, and the Rangers is the only NHL team he's following. But he's not just following Rangers players. He's following a lot of Finnish players around the league (Aho, Kakko, Heiskanen, Teravainen, Honka, etc.)
What kind of deal do you think he gets? And what would you offer him from the Habs?
I believe he'd be signed to a 1-Year ELC no matter where he signs. He's 26 and won't turn 27 before January. And I believe players that age, when signing their first NHL contract, it's a 1-Year ELC.
I may be mistaken. But I think that's how it is. If I'm right, it's not a question of who can offer him the most because there is a maximum amount a player is signed to an ELC. It would be more a case of what team he probably sees as a better fit for him. What city he would rather live in and all that goes into a player's considerations.
NHL CBA FAQ - CapFriendly - NHL Salary CapsPlayers younger than 25 years of age as of September 15 during the year of their first NHL contract must sign an entry-level contract which have set limitations - all entry-level contracts are two-way contracts and the maximum allowable salary for players drafted until 2022 is $925,000.
The length of the entry-level contract is also dependent on the player’s age:
- 18-21 years of age: 3 years
- 22-23 years of age: 2 years
- 24 years of age: 1 year
Looking into it I’m not sure he has to sign an ELC since he is older than 25.

Looking into it further I believe there is an exception to my above post for Europeans to age 27. So I believe Adam Micheals is correct on the ELC.
One thing that Demchenko, Lehtonen, and Jerabek all have is that they are coming out of Europe.
I think the table you gave were for prospects drafted (or possibly undrafted players who are from Major Junior or NCAA).
Based on age, the players offered an NHL entry level deal must be offered the following:
(exception: "Europeans" one-year deal to Age 27)
- Age 18-21: Three-Year Deal
- Age 22-23: Two-Year Deal
- Age 24: One- Year Deal

The Los Angeles Kings, New Jersey Devils and Montreal Canadiens — long in the market for a play-driving, left-shot defenceman — are but three teams said to have interest in the NHL-ready import whose stock and confidence have soared since that world championships gold last May.
Yup I just read an article from Sportsnet's Luke Fox that the Habs, Kings, and Devils are reportedly interested in Lehtonen.
