Sure. Now Sergachev looks like a sexy pick four years after his draft and playing with an offensive powerhouse in Tampa. Not sure he would be seen as so sexy if he would have stayed in Montreal. Again. I am not saying we should pick Sanderson, but he was playing for a relatively weak US U-18 team. No Jack Hughes, no Zegras, no Turcotte, no Caufield there this year. So offensive stats should be taken carefully, and again, Sanderson is on the young side of his draft year. He will turn 18 only in July.

Sergachev was great value because he had the offensive tools. He was basically a homerun pick. I actually think (although he is still young) he has not reach his offensive ceiling yet. He has brain farts defensively though.

So funny to read that now. You should go back read what was written here about Sergachev. Back the he was like most prospects, a promising player with question marks. Not a sure thing at all.

A lot of posters assumed that Sergachev would bust.

Sergachev for Drouin was awful. Sanderson is no sergachev though. Sanderson doesn't have those physical tools or silky offensive hands. His points will come off transition passing.

So the Habs end up trading a 2020 4th for 20 games of Scandella and then flip him with 50% retained for a 2020 2nd and a 2021 4th. Good asset management right there by MB.
Regardless of ones overall opinion of Bergevin, there's no denying he did great asset management with Scandella.

Yup. I've done my fair share of crapping on MB over the years but I'll also give him props when he does something good and this was a good move.

No he did day one. He was one the youngest winner of the Max Kaminsky trophy.

Same is said of 99% of prospects...Not sure how that's bad. Some posters here were also saying Subban is now expandable after trading Serg.

He was a sexy pick for you, maybe, but he was not back then. As always, most fans wanted a forward and many questionned his hockey IQ. Even today some are questionning that, brain cramps, etc... If you can find it go back and read the draft thread here back then. You will see.

Did you read the link i posted? He was a sexy pick for everyone. People wanted a forward because our offence ******. Sergachev was considered one of the best dman available.

If Sergachev would still be in Montreal, some would still complain because he would not look as good here than he is with a strong offensive team in Tampa Bay. And again, he was not a sexy pick for everyone in 2016. Olli Juolevi was also condidered one of the best D available in 2016. I guess Vancouver thought he was a sexy pick...

CSKA losing a few players this offseason.

We expect Romanov to sign with Habs.

Kaprizov is apparently also going to finally sign with Minnesota to come to the NHL.

Their goalie Sorokin will sign with Isles.

And now Grigorenko to Columbus.

Sergachev doesn't look good because he plays for Tampa. Sergachev looks good because he is good. Sergachev also looks good because Tampa knows how to develop.
