Those are nice. Next time I'm at a game I'll find the pro shop.
Can you be more specific? Are they on a losing streak, is there a question about them moving or changing Nashville affiliation? Was a key player injured or was there a questionable reason behind the injury. I don't keep up with baseball beyond scores and checking in on Mookie, but I like dirt.so, uh....what is going on in MIlwaukee about the Brewers?

Translation: Attanasio is a cheap ass who wants public funding but knows he can't ask for it because the first five words I typed.MLB trying to force Milwaukee gov to pay more $ hinting the Brewers could go the way for the A's
What's going on that MLB would even suggest the government give them any money in the first place?
Ok but why does the MLB think the government owes them anything?Billionares and millionaire are panicking about the economy
Why does anyone think anyone owes anything?Ok but why does the MLB think the government owes them anything?
You said they are trying to force them to give them money? I'm trying to find out why the MLB thinks they deserve money? It's apparently harder to answer than I thought. Why does anyone think anyone owes anything?

I would assume if the tax ended then probably the agreement with them ended, much like it did with the Preds. The idea that a city or state would continue to prop your organization up forever is a little mind boggling.LIstening to the Nothing Personal podcast, ex-MLB Prez as host, It sounds like the tax that was supposed to pay for Miller Park ended and MLB is like. 'So, You still going to pay for upkeep?'

Sounds more like greedIt frankly reeks of poor management but we are watching a battle between two groups of egomaniacs; sport owners and politicians
The 0.1% 5-county stadium tax raised $600 million over the approximately 16 years it ran. It paid off the stadium bonds raised to build it. (I had a 13 year bond, double tax free, state and federal. I was called years later and offered another bond, but I declined.) The stadium cost about $400 million to build. In the 22 years that it (originally Miller Park, now American Family Field) has been open, they have spent about $100 million on stadium upkeep. Replacing things like the roof bearings, seats, fans (the large cooling type) etc... Now they need a new scoreboard because the old one is 12 years old and apparently near the end of its lifetime. That will be $6.5 million out of the remaining $100 million dollars in funds.LIstening to the Nothing Personal podcast, ex-MLB Prez as host, It sounds like the tax that was supposed to pay for Miller Park ended and MLB is like. The real problem is that the Brewers claim that the stadium needs $290 million of maintenace going forward. The lease was for 30 years, so there are 7 more years to go. If the stadium deal is made, the Brewers supposedly will extend their lease for 13 more years. I have no idea why 13 more, except that makes it 20 more years of Brewers baseball. I think that spreading the cost over 20 years seems more palatable than 13 years of spending all of that money. By that time, the current Governor, Tony Evers, will probably be out of office, if not dead. He offered state money to pay the tab on a one time deal. The state legislature, as usual, said no. They say no to 95% of everything and have been that way for 5 or 6 years.
The state motto is "Forward", but the state legislature wants to stay in Neutral or even Reverse. I have no idea why that is so, it just is. The first 35 years that I lived here, it wasn't that way.
The "leaders" in the state legislature want the City of Milwaukee and the County of Milwaukee to pay about a third of the $290 million. The problem is that they are both nearly broke because the state legislature has starved them financially for about 10 years. (The City of Milwaukee increased their road replacement time from 36 years to 40 years, but that is what they can afford to budget.) We pay much more money into the state than we receive in funding. They need money to build a rebuild a highway from Beaver Dam to God only knows where. They can't raise local money from the 16,000 people in Beaver Dam, so they get it from the 600,000 in Milwaukee and the 400,000 more in Milwaukee County.
And it will keep coming back for more food until it is all gone?In other words, give a mouse a cookie...
And it will keep coming back for more food until it is all gone?
That is why Gov. Evers wanted to make a one time only payment with the current budget surplus.
But the legislature, who controls spending, said NO!
The 5 counties, Milwaukee, Waukesha, Ozaukee, Washington and Racine have already paid $600 M in collected sales tax money and the legislature wants the City of Milwaukee and County of Milwaukee to pay $95+M more. Maybe they can go back to the other 4 counties and drop the City of Milwaukee out since it is already within the County of Milwaukee? The city could pay zero or a fraction of the county cost, the county could pay say $90 M or so based on population, minus any city money, and the other 4 counties could pay a total of $100 M. With the $100 M left in the fund, that makes $290 M. The Brewers pay any overage! (BTW, IIRC the Brewers paid $18 M of the $400 M the stadium cost originally. They were about broke at the time. Miller Brewing paid $42M for 20 years of naming rights. It was $2 M up front and $2 M more each of the 20 years.)
