I used to feel that money is money no matter where it comes from. Now, I refuse entry to n'er do wells ie Hashers and mask wearing liberals. Those types whinge and moan causing problems for my staff more than a bunch of drunk roided up 20 somethings. Yes being a business in a developing country means discrimination is regularly practiced, most bars refuse entry to groups of Indians, as well as GoGos refusing Thai customers. Japanese oriented bars regularly refuse entry to westerners etc

Bit melancholy today. Gave farm girl her new phone and then released her back into the wilds of Pattaya. Hit the 3 day rule and can't have her getting too attached especially as the caretaker leaves Wednesday for her monthly sabbatical back in the province. Farm girl would have went into take care of her man overdrive, and can't have that. Used my friend as an excuse had him call and ask me to return her to his bar. She saves face, we exchanged Line info for potential future hookups when she's more tarnished.

On the good side my cans of Manwich were delivered so need some hamburger and rolls for some nostalgia

So, Nate had an eventful ride home from college on Saturday morning.

I was out grocery shopping and he called me. He shredded his serpentine belt on I-90 West and he needed me to get his location from Find My IPhone and send it to his mom so she and her dad could get him a replacement out to him. Thankfully, he got to the rest stop across from the Waterloo Outlets and was not stuck on the side of the road. He also had a jack, his tools, and his Morrisville education with him.

His grandpa was able to find a belt rather quickly. Nate was a bit worried since he has an almost 40 year old Porsche 944 and he wasn't sure how easy it would be to find a replacement belt.

But, he got the belt, he was able to replace it rather quickly, and he was home 3 hours later than planned. He then came over to grab hockey gear to go to skate and shoot with his HS teammates ahead of their varsity alumni game later this week.

I’m glad you managed to get him all sorted out.

Our Mitsubishi Outlander spontaneously turned off while i was sitting at a roundabout yesterday with the service light pinging on. I restarted it, drove about 2km then the temperature light flicks on and shows me it’s right at the top. The car has never had temp issues before.

I got it to limp along to near the garage then wifey picked me up. This morning I need to catch the train there, get it to the mechanic and see what they can see.

The demoralising thing is that six months ago our hot water cylinder had to be replaced. We pillaged a savings account to do it and have never had spare cash to put the money back.
The wife just got a new job, I expect a bonus in a couple of weeks. I’d been looking forward to paying that money back and having a bit of bonus left over for a couple of small things for myself … but if the Outlander is not an easy fix then instead I have to borrow more to buy a new car :(

So we just dominated germany in football today 2-0. As great as it was, this for sure will lead to them winning the Euros next year.

I had a vehicle where the thermostat malfunctioned and stuck open. Hope it is as easy a fix as that was for me.

I understand the lack of savings. I'm at the blood from a stone portion of this job search.

Looks like a new radiator needed. $1200ish. Silver lining is it’s a lot cheaper that the $15k-$25k we probably would’ve spent on a half-decent secondhand car. That’s all in NZD. Given the strength of the USD, $25k here is probably about $17 and a handful of quarters for you.

I hope there’s light at the end of your JobSearch tunnel.

Apparently the car was coming in from Canada, got flagged at the first checkpoint. Sped up and crashed into something at the 2nd checkpoint which triggered the explosion.

No information on if it was a terror attack or not. No point of assuming. As of right now all 4 bridges to the US/Canada are closed.

Also Arrivals/Departures at Buffalo International Airport are paused.

SHOCKING!!

Twitter and news media jumped to conclusions???

NEVAH!!! :D

There was one specific source that went to "it's an attack and it came from Canada" and most of the rest were "there was an event and it's being investigated". I will let you make assumptions on what outlet would be "we're being attacked".
