No one knows they are coming though, so I'm not sure what kind of resistance they would face.
I would think the Orville coming back to Earth unexpectedly and under radio silence at top speed after visiting the Kaylon homeworld would raise alarm bells. And these space faring stories always allow for deep space sensors that track ship movements.

Yes, but you'd think that what the Orville considers "top speed", is a "leisurely pace" for the Kaylon.
I'd think the Kaylon could easily beat the Orville to Earth if they wanted to.

That was really good and not a disappointment. I was relieved that...
...they ultimately repelled the Kaylon with firepower, not a cheap virus or the like. The writers did use that trick on the Kaylons on board the Discovery, but that was localized enough that I can live with it.
Well that sucked. **** you, carbon based life forms. #KaylonsWereRobbed #DataStorageSpaceMatters

Wow. Jussi went from robophobe to Kaylon supporter in only two weeks. I guess that seeing deadly lasers shoot from someone's head is enough to make any man sing a different tune.

This is old news, but it was news to me. Apparently, the episode that was held back from Season 1 was "a sequel to 'About a Girl'." That probably means the porn addiction episode, since Bortus spends time in the simulator because he's resentful of Kydon over the baby sex change. That partially explains why it feels like there's been one too many Bortus or filler episodes this season. That episode was actually filmed for Season 1. Also, since Alara was no doubt in it, they had to run it before the 3rd episode that got rid of her, which meant starting the season off with back-to-back Bortus episodes. I guess, now that I think about it, that it always had to be one of those two episodes, but at least we now know which.

My issue with this episode is that it lacked real consequence. A significant character should have died IMO. It was also extremely predictable that Isaac turned.

That said, it was still good, just not great.

Great episode, lots of action.

I like how they inject humour in the most dramatic scene, like the pee corner. Also, Yaphet had an important role to play for a change. The only thing missing during the battle was Chewbacca.

Those scenes were surprisingly well done, including referencing his crush on the doctor, but not over playing it.

Saw a comment on Twitter that I think willing be accurate. The rest of the season will probably have a bunch of bottle episodes to keep the budget constrained.

Hopefully this two parter creates some buzz that brings in viewers. The ratings have been fairly steady, and Fox has a lot of shows ending, that it should hopefully be safe from cancellation, but a small bump would do wonders.

That was a fantastic episode. I was afraid of a little let down after the two-parter, but that wasn't at all. I loved that it had mystery, high stakes and human drama. It felt just like a TNG episode and also reminded me of Star Trek VI and DS9. You don't get much more 90s (peak) Star Trek than that. That's definitely one of my favorite episodes of the series so far.

One tiny nitpick is that it doesn't seem likely that the Krill would be happy without a body and without seeing him die, since they could be suspicious that the Union lied about or faked his death. There's a 48-minute time constraint, though, so such things need to be let to slide to wrap the episode up. I would love if this were a streaming show and they could add 5-10 minutes to tie up loose ends like that, but it's not, unfortunately. At least FOX has been letting the show be 48 minutes this season instead of the typical 42-44.

You can sure tell why they only get a small ship and are considered misfits.

When they passed over doing a medical scan on the girl just cause I just knew...let a psychologically damaged inmate who you consider might be violent wander around where he wants...

Amazing things worked out.
